Ok, I'm doing this question for my sister who doesn't do computers.

My sister, her husband and a couple of friends all did the GAD service a few weeks ago. My sister doesn't do computers or have email, so they put down the email address of the friend that was with them that day. The friend has not received any emails at all for any of the names.

My sister called the the shelter where they did their service and asked them about it. They told my sister today, that they put in all the names for the GAD ticket but after seraching the web site today for my sister they didn't find any of the names listed on the Disney web site either.

My sister wants to do WDW next Wednesday for her grandson's birthday.

What can she do now?
Does the shelter have to resend the names?
How long does it take to get the email?
Is there a Disney phone number to call?
Can you help us out?

Thanks.

Sorry - I'm confused. If your sister doesn't use a computer how did she sign up for the GAD program and how did she verify her scheduled day prior to her actual volunteer service? I'm wondering if they aren't showing her name because she didn't do all of the proper sign up and verification procedures on the computer.

They signed up on her friend's computer.

Okay - next question, after I signed up, was accepted by the organization, and had a date and time confirmed I had to sign back into the website to complete the sign-up process via a link given to me in an email. The original confirmation email from Disney states that if you do not completely this step (prior to volunteering) then you will not be registered for the "Give a Day. Get A Disney Day" program.

Did your sister do this step after she received her date and time confirmation from the organization?

The lady at the organization where we volunteered (Food Bank) said if people missed this step it creates all kinds of problems because then they don't show up in the system.

Ok, I just talked with my sister and she said:
<quote> After we signed up on the computer I talked to the lady at the homeless shelter and she said we were set to go. I don't know what else to tell you. <unquote>

All my sister really wants is a phone number to call Disney and I have searched all the Disney sites for 2 hours and can not find a single phone number for anything.

Thank you for helping:)

Here is the link to the GAD FAQ. There is a link for guest assistance. There is no number to call that I know of - your sister or someone else will have to submit a request through the link.

If your sister had not completed the signup process, she may be out of luck. It was necessary to sign up in advance, not just give an e-mail address at the time of service. Disney did not allow same-day registrations. I can't tell from your post if anyone ever got verification that they had been scheduled for the volunteer activity and confirmed through Hands On Network.

I'm not sure the friend was even allowed to sign up people not in the same household. I believe someone at your sister's address would have needed to complete the verification process prior to the volunteer activity.

Since it has been more than two weeks since the activity, she can try here:

But I don't know how far she will get if she doesn't have an account. Someone must have been listed as lead volunteer if in fact the registration was completed. Whoever that person is would get the e-mails and would have to have an account.

I agree with StitchandPooh'sMom. It doesn't sound like your sister signed back in to do the verification on the website which you have to do after confirming your volunteer date but before you actually volunteer. If that is the case then you sister is going to be out of luck.

I never got an email with the vouchers but when I went onto the GAD site, they were there, waiting to be printed.

Thank you. My sister doesn't know anything about computers or the internet. She trusted the people she talked to when they said she was "all set to go." She is just feeling betrayed right now. They did two work days (One with the kids and one without) to get the tickets for the grandson's birthday.

She finally called Disney yesterday and they want the emails between herself, Disney, and the shelter and there just aren't any as she talked with the shelter on the phone.

They still plan to go to Disney next Wednesday but they can't do as much as they have been planning on for the last six months. I'm sure the kids 6 and 2 will have a blast.

I have already called the local Navy Base to find out the cost of Disney tickets for her. I will go with her on Tuesday to get them before they head to Orlando.

Again, thank you all for your help. :)

I'm sorry that it doesn't look good for the GAD vouchers. :sad1: I'm sure she volunteered in good faith, thinking she had done what she needed to do. I do understand why Disney requires pre-registration, though.

Are you a military member or spouse? If so, do you know about the military salute tickets? If you are a service member or spouse, you can purchase up to six tickets for yourself, dependents or guests. They are $99 for 4-days. You can add park hopping or water parks for $25 each plus tax. The catch is that the military person or spouse must be present to activate the tickets at WDW - you don't have to go into the parks, but you would need to be there to activate them the first day, so you would need to go to Orlando the first day. More info here (post #17 for Military Salute tickets):
