Hello!

I have been seeing a lot of people on e-bay selling information on where you can obtain 25,000 Delta skymiles (redeemable for a roundtrip voucher) for only $150. Has anyone heard of this? Can anyone shed some light on this for me. I usually can do the research myself and find ways to find the same stuff but I'm having difficulties.

I would really love to be able to see for myself before purchasing this "info" from someone if I don't have to. Any advise would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!!! Thanks! You can PM me if wanted at stacy_jasonhendrickson@msn.com

This does not sound like a legitimate offer, since SkyMiles, and other frequent flyer miles are Non-transferrable. Buying someone else's miles on eBay sound pretty risky to me.

Furthermore, even tho you could get a free round-trip ticket for 25,000 SkyMiles, in practice it is very difficult to get a desirable flight at that level of award. I have lots and lots of SkyMiles, but can rarely redeem them for a flight I would actually care to take.

For example, you'd think that next Memorial Day is a long way off, so let's try that one on for size. We fly out of Boston Logan and there are 4 direct flights a day to Orlando. I plug in Fri May 27th as a prosective date, and the return on Tues May 31st. There are NO flights at all available at the 25,000 level on the Friday, but there are some on the next day, Sat, if I don't mind connecting in both Washington Dulles and Atlanta on the way down. Tues the 31st is the same case, Nothing at all offered at 25,000 miles, but on the Weds June 1 I could take a flight with only one connection, in Atlanta. Mind you, I could shell out 50,000 miles for a SkyChoice award and get direct flights at decent times, but of course I can buy those same seats for cash at a mere $209 round trip. I usually equate a mile to a penny, so for 50,000 miles I am gonna take a flight that would otherwise cost >$500.

On the other hand, if you fly out of a smaller airport where you will need to make connections anyway (for example, my parents fly out of Portland Maine) flights for 25,000 miles are a little more easily available. We just try to avoid connecting flights since we fly out of Boston and can fly direct most places.

Now free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it, so you make your own choices. I would simply advise you to be very careful with offers like this. Caveat Emptor

Skymiles are not totally nontransferable. I can use my SkyMiles to get a ticket for anyone that I choose, maybe that is what they are doing.

Skymiles are transferable.
You can give your miles to someone else or you can give them to charity. You can also purchase miles if you need more for the free ticket. Someone can purchase limes for you as a gift. All of this is on the website under Skymiles.
