I have 2 resort reservations for Dec. 17th-22nd as I got great rates for both now I need to decide which one to keep. The background of this trip is:

We have been to Disney many times, but have not been during the holiday season for many years. This year I (21) am taking my DM (57) and a friend of my choice (either dbf 23 or best friend 20) This is my treat, I am covering everything but CS meals. I have reservations at SoG for $99 a night + $3 a day parking fees. I also just booked POFQ with a AAA rate of $119 p/n (thats after taxes) We have yet to stay at either resort. I know the rooms at SoG are bigger, but we don't spend much time in the rooms, and we do use Disney transportation. Which would be more festive for the holidays? Which would be a better choice for either dbf or best friend who haven't been to disney in a long time or at all (respectively)? Or do I keep both and hope an AP or FL resident rate comes out for POFQ and if one doesn't then stay at SoG? for the difference of ~$20 a night it's not a big deal.

Which would you pick? I'm so :confused3

Even though it's more expensive, I'd go with POFQ. I've never visited SoG at Christmas, so I don't know how they decorate, but the Disney resorts are always wonderfully decorated. They are festive and bright with lots of lights, wreaths and bows. And the POFQ is a wonderful resort with great theming and nice rooms. It would be a wonderful treat for whoever you choose to take.

Thanks! It's a small decision in the scheme of things, but I really want this to be special both for my mom and my friend/bf. My mom loves disney at christmas so if POFQ is more themed, I think thats where we will end up!

If possible, schedule a little time during your trip to visit some other resorts. At least visit the Grand Floridian -- you have to see the life-size gingerbread house they have in their lobby. It is awesome! I also recommend visiting Wilderness Lodge and the Beach Club -- my family especially likes their decorations.

I wanted to stay at WL, but it is out of my budget for this trip! We will definatly visit though, we usually make the first day a resort hopping day!

I have stayed at SoG at Christmastime and it was beautiful! I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again for the holidays! It was also nice being so close to the Poly and Grand Floridian (which, by the way, has the most beautiful Christmas decorations of all in my opinion!)
