Know opinions are like ******** but my wife and I are having trouble deciding.

We are planning a trip to DW in June to celebrate my sons graduation from HS. We will have an unusual group with us (unusual for us) this trip. We will be taking:
Me
Wife
Son (just turned 18)
Daughter (will be 14)
Sons girlfriend (she's never been to Disney and is so excited, she is 17 going on 18)

So we have made 3 decisions... But need help with the final piece. We know the date (3rd week in June). We know we want 2 rooms...1 for the guys and 1 for the girls. Connecting if possible but that's not a deal breaker. And we know we want to go to a moderate resort.

I would say we will spend an equal amount of time at the various parks. We do love to eat at TS restaurants. Love the places at EPCOT. But just can't make that final decision.

Any "free" advice?

I see you want a moderate but I haven't stayed in a moderate so can't give much advice there. People on these boards seem to really like port orleans though. I don't know if there is a moderate that is close to epcot although i've seen Coronado springs driving in and I think that MIGHT be closest but don't take my word for it.

it sounds like bc/yc or bwi might be perfect for you guys but if you want to spend less you might be able to get a good deal at the swan or dolphin. then you'd have the benefits of an epcot resort but at a better price. good luck, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Port Orleans Riverside!!! Loved everything about our stay there. Beautiful gardens & lush landscaping. Check out www.portorleans.org You will find everythin you need to know and more about this resort. Definitely a winner in my book!!

I think my wife is leaning towards PO...but whats the difference nbetween RS and FQ. I stayed there many years ago, but that was before the changes.

I didn't even think about The Sawn and Dolphin... I don't know much about either of those. Proce wise are they comparable to moderates? Do you still have all the Disney stuff since they are operated by other companies?

Five adults in one moderate room will be tight. While the Alligator Bayou section of POR has a murphy bed, it is much smaller than what you would think - -it is 65" by 31" - so take that into consideration. You see what I mean here:

If you want moderate and 5 adults comfortably, I'd suggest Ft. Wilderness Cabins -- they have a full and two bunks in the bedroom and a full murphy in the living room -- they are in between the price of a moderate and a deluxe.

The only other comfortable way would be to look at renting points from a DVC member -- I have stayed at OKW and there were 7 of us in there in complete comfort - but it cost a lot more.

We are 100% getting 2 rooms. Not sure if you have been around a 17 year old b/f g/f couple, but those 2 sleeping in the same room s a non-starter...call me a prude!

We thought about getting a 2 bedroom villa but those prices are insane. We have done the 1 bedroom villa at WL and BC but again with the make-up of our group that won't work.

We love love love WL...and that is still "kind of" on the table, but the price difference at that time of year for 2 rooms is about $2200. That's a lot of good meals, gifts, shows and extras!

Umm, I'm a bit math challenged, but I think OP plans to put the 2 'boys' in one room and the 3 'girls' in his second room - so 5 adults in one room shouldn't be an issue;).
I have not stayed @ POR, did stay @ POFQ several years ago. They are sister resorts and you can use the pool and other amenities at both when you stay in one. Many people favor POFQ because it is smaller, those w/ families of 5 are limited to alligator bayou @ POR, but you aren't and perhaps the mansions would appeal to you. My favorite part of POFQ was the boat to DTD - IMO a special plus for a moderate @ WDW.

Obviously I didn't see they wanted 2 rooms -- but having been a 17 year old boy, that is why I had thought up FT Wilderness -- Girls in the "bedroom" mom in the full, girls in the bunks and boys in the living room -- murphy and couch.

There are some big differences between these resorts IMO. FQ is a lot smaller and quaint. We took a walk down along the riverside one day to get some beignets at there foodcourt. For me it was kind of sparce of the lush foliage and gardens you will get at POR. It was definitely more city like...I personally didn't like the feel of it, but a lot of people do like it because it is smaller.

As big as POR is we never found that it was too busy. The pool was never too full, and we only waited one day for a bus that took about 20 minutes. Most waits were around 10. We stayed in an Alligator Bayou room as I have a young son. I thought it would be too rustic, but it really wasn't. Everything is well themed and clean.

If you have any more questions about POR feel free to ask....happy planning!!
