Help decide where we eat on the wedding night!

We're definitely focused on eating too - I guess we're considered "foodies". :) Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure I remember how much I ate on our wedding night - we were up and mingling and posing for pictures, smiling until my face hurt. I think the OP said that they were just having lunch with parents - not a huge reception, and suggested that they really wouldn't be all that tired in the evening. I really loved our reception (except for the heavy snowfall - some guests had to leave a little early) - it wasn't the typical Western reception - but it was exhausting. A dinner at V&A's would have been WONDERFUL but we wouldn't even come close to being able to afford a reception there with friends/family and we wanted to share our evening with them. ;)

I'd go to Shula's at the Dolphin Hotel! It is not on the dining plan, but it is a great atmosphere...my DW and I go almost once a month!

We had dinner at 'Ohana after our Disney Wedding (Intimate/Escape) in 2006, and we loved it, and would do it over again. It was fun, they had a dance for the newlyweds, made a big fuss, etc. (Didnt hurt that I was still in my dress!)

I say go for it, it's very fun and energetic, and you can go for a nice walk up to the Wedding Paviliion like we did... very romantic. :cloud9:

Well, you certainly have gotten many wonderful suggestions. You are going to have a magical day and evening with family and friends you love. Come evening to steal away just the two of you. Ahhh heaven.

From our experience we were so exhusted and we kept pushing to "enjoy every minute and not miss anything". If we were to do it over again....I would do the evening BIG wedding dinner a day or two after the wedding. When we had relaxed, rested and could really enjoy our time. I would suggest that the two of you sit down and talk about what you both would really like to do, discussing how you think you will be feeling and if the heat of August in Florida will zap you. Whatever you deceide will be Perfect for You. Sending you warm wishes for many, many years of happiness. :bride: :groom: pixiedust:

Personally, I've never been to Cali grill or Narcoosee's or Jiko or some of the other suggestions in this thread but I'm sure willing to try them out (not on my wedding night - don't plan to do that again!). DH and I are conservative that way - we've found a restaurant that we've fallen in love with and stick with it each time we visit WDW and I wanted to share that - not get criticized for my suggestion.

I've been to all of those places. And of all the choices, I still think Victoria and Albert's would be a great idea. I think California Grill, Jiko, and Artist Point are up there in terms of food or ambience. California Grill can be very noisy, though.

I'd want my wedding dinner to be at Victoria and Albert's, if I had a Disney wedding in the works. One of the best things is that the menus are personalized and dated, and they would also make a nice keepsake.

Oh my gosh, thank you for all of these wonderful responses!

Our wedding is more of a weddingmoon - so after the guests leave, we're there together on honeymoon for 2 weeks. I did add Jiko for later in the stay. V&A, while I'm sure is lovely, is a little too much and too upscale for us, we are pretty laid back. We do love our disney dining though...so, another trip maybe.

I think 'Ohana might be pushed to the next trip (February, we're thinkin' - have to make use of those complementary annual passes!)

As for staying at a different resort...we're in CSR on the annual pass discount. Originally the wedding was not a Disney wedding, and was just a honeymoon with the 2 weeks in AKL. We decided to go all the way and splurge on having the wedding there too, since Chicago didn't seem to offer anything nearly as magical ;)

Previous lunch and everything will not be too big. The whole thing is a very small event, more of a planned, very expensive elopement with our parents present. I wasn't too impressed with the Artist Point menu, honestly. So...I do think it's going to be Narcoosee's, assuming we can get in. We'll try to ask for a good spot to view the fireworks...:lovestruc

Thank you all so much!

If you're at CSR then AKL is close by and Jiko is a very attractive, adult atmosphere in general but not outrageously expensive. May I just suggest something really special there is to sit at the "bar" - the Cooking Place where they prep a lot of the first courses - would be a unique Disney dinner for you b/c you would be in the incredible atmosphere of the place, INCREDIBLE, interesting food, the buzz of the chefs behind the counter, who would answer any questions you may have but NEVER infringe on your privacy and you would get wonderful service. A sommelier will help you choose a wine if you're interested... at Jiko your server could easily be a sommelier himself :thumbsup2
If it were your wedding night I'm sure they would make it extra special :wizard: If you're laid back, I think this would be an excellent spot for you two :cloud9: Also, checking in at Jiko isn't a madhouse (well, not usually!) as it certainly seems to be at 'Ohana :scared1:

Congratulations and best wishes, regardless of where you dine~

DW & I went to Narcoossee's for the first time this past trip, and I think it will be perfect for what you want. We also got married in WDW, and we did Portobello Yacht Club at DTD as our wedding reception and V&As as our first dinner the next night. I don't think we would have wanted V&As the actual night of our wedding - we would have been too tired to have to be that formal. Narcoossee's is a great meal, outstanding view/location, and more relaxed. Excellent choice!

We have always enjoyed Narcoossee's. The food, the service, the view. Enjoy!

Probably not much of a splurge since it is pretty much across the street.

Forgive me if "splurge" is the wrong word. I was just suggesting that they could skip the WDW bus and make the trip a little more special.

Or am I supposed to be AWED at your knowledge of WDW geography?

If you are really tired and want to stay at your resort, Maya Grill is a nice choice. It's not Nuevo Latino cuisine anymore (much to DH's and my disappointment). It's steaks and chops, basically. The creative dishes are the appetizers and desserts (which is what DH and I have when we go). But, there are lots of plain American dishes now -- it's basically a steakhouse. The atmosphere is nice, rather romantic, and, unless there is a noisy convention crowd, relatively quiet.

While I would rank it below some of the dining suggestions other posters have made, there is something to be said for dinner at your resort after a huge day.

Whatever you decide, enjoy!

If Ohana is special to you and he, then do it! We were married in January at disney, and ended up going to 1900 Park Fare. I've had so many people just shake their head at me when I told them where we went because it is a 'noisy restaurant and is not romantic'. But, it fit our personalities. I wanted a picture of us in her wedding clothes with cinderella and prince charming. I wanted buffet so that our picky daughter could get whatever she wanted. I wanted fun, and laid back. Heck, I don't need romance at disney, I need fun and characters LOL
