We're planning our first trip to Disney and cannot decide on a date! Originally we were going to go September 12-18, 2010. My husband is worried about hurricane season so he wanted to go later. I don't want to go any later than Halloween so I said maybe October 10-16??? Which would you say is better? Better weather, crowds? When does free dining run (if it might run next year)??? How is the park decorated for Halloween and when? I don't want it to be a Halloween trip since it's our first time to Disney but we do like Halloween... ???

Free dining generally ends at the beginning of October. But, this year and last year, they extended it through Mid-December. If you want to get in on free dining, the safest bet is to go sometime in September (altough free dining is never a guarantee). Also, value season at the resorts ends at the end of September. So, an October trip would mean paying regular season prices (the season does go back to value again later in the year, though). August and September are the "peak" of Hurricance season (thus the value rates on rooms and free dining). So, if you are worried about a hurricane, then October would be a better bet (although hurricane season "offically" runs from June 1st until the end of November). Good luck with your choice. We are hoping to go the last full week in Sept 2010, but we will change our dates to December if they come out with free dining for that time period again (I really would like to go at Christmas time!). --Katie
