HELP! DD Wants A Candy Buffet!

I did a candy buffet for my son and bride at their wedding reception. It came out great but it was a lot of work. The one piece of advice I would give you is to not scrimp on the amount of candy. It takes a lot of candy to fill a table and I have found that buffets that try to be too low cost end up looking on the bare side.

I got lots of my containers at the dollar store. I spent time collecting candy after holidays when it was marked down and at discount stores. My DIL had a pink and black theme and the table was beautiful! I used tulle to fill in space around the jars, which really made the table. We used a big piece of pink tulle to cover the table during the wedding to keep hands off the candy. We used plain white bags for the guests with a sticker on them that I had made at Vistaprint with the bride and groom's name and wedding date on it. They were perfect.

Dollar Tree, craft stores, Ikea for containers. Candywarehouse dot com for the candy, great bulk prices and there are sometimes coupon codes floating around out there.

Definitely check Dollar Tree (or whatever dollar store you have around you) for the containers, they will have vases, neat glasses and likely bowls as well. The website link was neat.
As for candy check OTC and Party City. Have fun!

We had a candy bar for our daughters graduation. We found the fewer better candies the better. We also bought some bulk items like twinkle candy suckers. Watch your sales and bulk is not always cheaper. It is cost effective to maybe put them in the small boxes or walmart has small decorative sacks in the party area.

Update! My notoriously indecisive DD has changed her mind, and wants to have a spa day with a friend! I'm SO relieved! I went into panic mode when I found out the rental price for the venue she wanted ($205.00 total! ACK!), so I decided we'd do it for free at the gym of the church where I work, which DD decided was too far away (almost 25 minutes-we've driven further for friend parties), so she says she'd rather do the spa day with some shopping thrown in, using some of the money we'd be saving. SCORE!

I got glass containers for my son's buffet at garage sales, thrift stores and the Dollar Tree. You could also borrow from family/friends. We also got little scoops from Dollar Tree for the non-wrapped candies.

As far as candies, I just bought candy locally according to what my son wanted.

Try Royal Candy Company dot com or Oriental Trading. I found Candy Warehouse to be VERY expensive by comparison. I found a bunch of jars/vases/etc. at Marshall's and TJ Maxx for less that $10 each. I bought scoops from Oriental Trading and found little tongs at Party City. Party City also had scoops in every color of the rainbow if you want to match the buffet. They are a little more expensive, but super cute.
