Hi, I am cruising on May 12th, but need tips on if some think it is better to stay at MCO hotel (considered this, just wondered about the hotel itself. I usually prefer newer and updated hotels. Open to staying near airport area or going to Cocoa Beach area.

1. Any Ideas for nice, updated hotels in Airport Area or Cocoa Beach area? And if so, can you recommend transportation options to hotel and to and from the port?

We use FL Tours for transport. They do a great job. If you stay near MCO and at a hotel with a free shuttle, you'll only have to worry about one transfer versus two (one to Cocoa Beach and a second to the ship).

One question - what time are you arriving in Orlando? If it's late, I'd suggest just staying at the Hyatt MCO. It's soooo convenient.

That's about the time we got there on our last cruise. We stayed at the Hyatt MCO. But we rented a car for the day and drove over to WDW for the evening. The next morning it's just so easy to use the DCL transfers to the port from the airport.

I will say the Hyatt MCO isn't what I would call an updated hotel, but it has nice restaurants, and a pool. I wasn't impressed with the room we had there. Seemed a bit like every other hotel room we've ever stayed in, nothing special. We overlooked the parking lot.

We're doing this...but going to rent a car & stay in port canaveral at the Hilton suites or Marriott suites. Both are new, reliable & consistent in cleanliness & space. Both have a pool for the kids. With our rental car we can head into cocoa beach that night if we want to. Free breakfast at either hotel. We're making sure to rent the car from national, Alamo or enterprise & their drop off location the next morning is less than a mile to the ship & they have a free shuttle to the ship. I'll probably have my husband drop us at the port with the luggage & go alone to return the car. He can grab the shuttle to the ship & join us in the line to get on. (Our other possible plan I sent to return the car the night before & take the hotel shuttle to the port...its only $5/person & takes you whenever you want to go.) We got our hotel for right around $100 & currently, the rental cars are going for around $80 for the dropping off in he morning option. Super affordable so far.
