We are staying at WDW Contemporary Feb 15-22 2006. We plan on doing WDW 16, 17, 18, 19 and spending the 20 and 21st at Univeral/IoA. I've only been to Universal once (my kids actually remember it better than WDW). Last time we had a car and only spent one day. This time no car and two days. Any suggestions on transportation? I'm thinking FL Tours or similar company will be the cheapest since I'm not willing to invest the time in public transportation. It seems that getting there won't be as much of an issue, I'm worried about getting picked up.

What are the crowd patterns for Pres Week - I realize this is probably a no-brainer question. Maybe the question should be exactly how bad will the crowds be and what are the hints and tricks for getting the most of our time?

Thanks,
Suzanne

You might be better off renting a car from Alamo or National located at WDW (Car Care Center or Dolphin). I don't know how many are in your group...we are renting a car for 3 days 2/14-2/17 thru Alamo. We are paying $89.00 total for the 3 days and we can come and go when we want.

Just a thought... ;)

if that $89 for 3 days includes all the taxes, then that is a great price !!

that would be the best way.
parking at the universal lot might be 8 or 9 now.
when i drive i just park at the hotel where i stay on site.

Yes, that includes taxes! It's for a compact.

Thanks so much for your replies. I looked into car rental for the two days we are going to Universal and it is definitely the way to go.

Glad to help!

We are planning on going to Universal on Thursday, Feb. 16th...I wonder how the crowds will be???

Have a great trip!

Have you seen the hours of operation in Feb for Universal yet? I am figuring the crowd patterns for Universal will be similar to those of Disney. For our stay Feb 15 - 22 I have crowd levels of 6 for the 15th, 7 for the 16th, 8 for the 17th and 18th and 9's for the 19th-21st.

Are you spending one day at Universal? Have you been before?

No, I haven't seen the hours for this February...I looked at historical hours (for Feb. 2005) I think that they open at 9:00 or 10:00 am and close each day at 6:00 or 7:00 pm. It probably will get more crowded towards the weekend of President's Day (Feb. 18th-19th).

I have been before...I spent 2 nights at Hard Rock Hotel back in 2001 (Thanksgiving Week). It was great! My kids loved it! We had 2 full days to do both parks (we hopped back and forth). We also had front of the line passes because we stayed on-site--boy, was that great! It wasn't that crowded, but for the more popular rides it sure was great--we never stood in a line! We especially liked the Men and Black ride and Spiderman--we went on these over and over again! I think that the crowds were lighter in 2001 because it was right after the 9/11 tragedy.

This time I will be with my mom (no kids with us this time ;) ) so, it will be a whole different type of trip. My mom just wants to do the shows at US and some rides and walk around IOA and do some rides, and shopping, of course! ;) She isn't the roller coaster type...I might go on a few by myself if there aren't alot of lines! We are only going 1 day (buying a 1 day-2 park pass) this should be fine for us. We will probably go to Citywalk for lunch or dinner as well.

Hope you have a great trip!
