HI, First big family trip we are going as a group of 13 with 9 kids half who don't know what we are planning.

So we would like to do a party to tell them the grand plan.

Any ideas, Cake patterns, hints would be great.

Thanks Tena

That sounds like fun!! What ages are the kids?

Maybe watch the planning dvd while everyone is at the party?

How about some type of disney party plates, cups, or napkins to serve snacks on?

Maybe have some papers, scissors, glue, crafty type stuff on hand, and the kids can each make their own "countdown" chart or calendar?
Oldie but goodie...we used to make the paper chains when I was younger, to countdown for special events. You could use disney stickers to decorate...

Or on a little bigger scale... have them decorate or paint some shirts to wear?
Have you seen the mickey fun head design t's? They are a lot of fun, and not too hard to make. It would take a little preparation on the adult end... having the mickey swirl on the shirts already, and just letting the kids do the painting??

Hope this helps! I am not the most creative, lol.

I was thinking of tshirts for them as party favors. And I agree with pp, Disney themed party.

A Mickey cake would be easy to make - just bake three circles - trim to fit and frost!

We always make daisy chains to count down and those are very easy for kids to make. That would be a fun activity for them to do.

The tshirt idea sounds cute too.

there are several different T designs so that is a great start. Depending on the age of the kids some are easy and quick others take a little more plannings.

The 3 circle cakes are a great idea and easy. You could pick food and then name them w/ signs gold fish crackers = Nemo snacks, pinwheel sandwiches = McQueen tires I know our grocery store has food sponsored by Disney even mickey head shaped burgers.

Have Disney music playing.

Get those mickey heads from HD and let them make count down calendars one for each family.

We've been having mini- (Minnie?!) celebration dinners along the way since we planned our Nov trip early this year. We've celebrated the day we selected our accomodations (5 br/5bath) house in Windsor Hills, got our Disney passes, and other milestones on a very long countdown, such as dropping from 3 digits to 2.

We've had a castle cake, Mickey cake, Mickey waffles, and anything else we can think of to give the occasion a Disney touch. Our version of a Mickey cake was inspired by a picture of cupcakes, as was just about the easiest thing to do... we used a chocolate frosting background and with a plain icing tip (a plastic bag with a hole cut would even work!) squeezed three dots of white icing, in the proper configuration, but not quite touching. Flattened with a wet fingertip, they are very effective Mickey designs, randonly over the cake. I do have pictures but don't see any option to attach one.

You can download Park music, DSIL did this ... very cool, and make a dvd with all kinds of wonderful pictures to play in the backgorund. Don't forget to order the free vacation planning video. We watch ours regularly!

Thanks for the idea I'm going to put them to good use. Like the mickey cake

Thanks
