Help convince me...

Hi everyone, its been a long time since Iv been on these boards, or so it feels. Our last trip was December and afterwards we kind of felt like we'd had too much DLP!

Then we started planning for Florida 2013. Since then things have been turned upside down as my OH is fed up of scrimping and saving. He wants a new car and the kids wanted us to get a caravan! Anyway whilst decisions havent been fully decided and me being impatient I thought about meeting them all halfway. My OH can get his new car, we can have a last minute trip to DLP and we will get a caravan in Spring 2013.

However, we are used to low season prices (1st week of June and 1st week of December). I see Seqioia Lodge has free dining and 30% off for the 26th-31st July which would be perfect. But its still £1400 for 2 adults, 2 children and a 1 year old.

Firstly Im wondering whether in the free dining my 1 year old will get anything? He can eat just as much as the other two at times...

Secondly can you give me pro's and con's for the increased prices for school holidays such as increased opening hours and fireworks?

Need to decide whether it will be worth it!

So £1400 is your price for 5 nights with free dining included? Your one-year old doesn't get any meals vouchers, but they can eat free at all participating buffet restaurants.

If you break down that price further, food for you all (instead of free food) would be at around £100 per night booked, so thats £500.

If you all had to buy annual passes instead of having park tickets included, you'd be at least £200 for those (if your children are aged under 7) this would be £400 if your children are aged 7 or over.

So that means you're paying £100 per night at the least, £140 per night at the most, for your room and breakfast at the Sequoia Lodge. That doesn't sound an unreasonable price to me for the end of July (just had a quick look on travelrepublic, and b&b at the associated hotels start at £456 and go up to £672 for those for 5 nights, no park tickets included).

Without the free dining included, I'd say this wasn't a great price, but as the free dining is effectively saving you around £500, then I don't think its too bad.

Oh, meant to add, the summer schedule park programme will be published next week sometime (high summer season starts 9th July this year I believe). The later hours and Dreams show, parade etc is already on its summer timescale, but there will be Fantillusion to add in for high summer season.

I agree it is a good price, we are usually tempted to eat in places like Cafe Mickey and Rainforest Cafe and these were costing us around E120 last year! So this way we will save money on the dining plan...

If it wasnt so tempting I wouldnt have been tempted but we never thought we could afford this year compared to last year.

Just got to check that OH is keen and the prices are still there next Tuesday when my cheque clears!

In fact this time round we may not tell the children at all... We never had chance to keep it a secret last year. Might tell them we are going for a meeting and drive all the way to Dover before they notice!

PS my kids are 8, 6 and 1!
