We have just booked Contemporary tower MK view. I am worried. It was never my intention to stay here. We are going for 3 nights before my cruise and we wanted to be hooked up to monorail since our main focus is MNSSHP and Epcot. I have never really like the Contemporary look but I do like the inside and love chef Mickeys. I really did not like old room decor but the new stuff looks very nice to me. I am still worried I will be unhappy and wish we were over at Poly. Poly only has lagoon view left as is a little but more expensive than contemporary, not much though. For anyone who has stayed at both what do you prefer? This may be the only time we are able to stay at Deluxe so we want to make a good decision. Oh, we have a DD 12 and DS 6.

Thanks

Having stayed at both, I can offer my suggestions and knowledge. Both are truly wonderful resorts. We started our madness in 1977 staying alot of years at CR. Through the years, we've had the occasion to try a few other deluxes and its come down to WL and Poly. CR is still nice, we visit it alot during our stays but the Poly is a fantastic resort. Lush winding trails to wander, great beach to view the MK and EWP and the lights from all the resorts and MK are really remarkable. The pool is done up nice compared to CR. For the little difference in money, I would have to choose the Poly over CR.

never stayed at either....
but....visited both....

definately the poly hands down...
sit at the pool during wishes.....awesome view...

contemporary always feels sterile to me... :confused3
have a great trip

I have stayed at both. I much preferred the CR over Poly but only because of the magic Kingdom view. I don't think I would want to stay there without it. The MK is so close you can almost reach out and touch it! We could lay in our bed at night and watch the castle changing colors. The fireworks are amazing from the balcony. The castle is clear across the lake at the Poly and not nearly as spectacular. The fireworks on the beach are lovely, but more distant. I had heard you could hear the music from wishes at the Poly beach, but not when I was there. I am one of those weird people who actually liked the old CR decor better than the new look, but if it was in my budget, I would go CR (MK view) over Poly no matter what the room looked like! JMO

:thumbsup2 CR Magic Kingdom View ALL THE WAY!!! We stayed there 3 nights the first weekend of December for our anniversary and it was AWESOME. We were on the 6th floor and the view from our balcony was magical. Our 2 DD had the time of their lives sitting on the balcony eating and watching the castle not only change colors but fireworks each night. My DH and I would lay in our bed and just stare out at the incredible view. The girls were so excited to be at the hotel the monorail goes through and do not have worries that you will have a noise issue. We never once heard any noise from the monorail or anything else for that matter. This room a little piece of MAGIC and we hope to return each year to our new FAVORITE resort. BTW...I have stayed at both these resorts as a kid and now as an adult they are both beautiful. This is a very personal decision so go with your gut and what you and your family will enjoy. Some people love the laid back feeling at the Poly while other really enjoy a little more action that goes on at the CR. Either way you can not go wrong...ENJOY!!!! :sunny:

How much time are you going to be at the resort instead of in the parks? Are you going to spend more time at MK or other parks?

If you are going to spend more time at the resort, and parks other than the MK, then the Poly is a good choice. You can walk to the TTC and get the monorail directly to Epcot, instead of catching one monorail and waiting for the next. The grounds at the Poly are very nice for strolling and relaxing.

If you are planning to spend a lot of time at the parks, especially the MK, the CR can't be beat. It's supposed to look streamlined inside and out, and it does. You can walk to the MK, you're only one monorail stop from the TTC, so the location is great.

I've stayed in both, and I prefer the CR, because if I'm at a monorail resort, I plan to spend a lot of time at MK, and I like the walk in factor. If I'm spending a lot of time at Epcot or MGM, I'll stay at an Epcot resort. You can't really make a bad choice between a tower room at CR or a Poly room, so I would go with the CR if it will save you some money.
