Help choosing smart phone plan please!

I have been researching smartphones also but want something with unlimited everything but also has good signal in NE WI, SW WI and FL. I do not want a contract plan so I think I am limiting myself as to what carrier I will end up with. We like our daughters' tracfones but I don't think they offer smart phones, at least in our area. I am watching for a deal on a Galaxy 4s. That might determine who I end up with but I will get myself one and then if we like it add on to make up a family plan, most likely.

I am in California so I am not help with coverage in your area but I will tell you not to go with Sprint! They are the worst when it comes to changing plans/phone upgrades/contract renewals. With Verizon when your 2 yr contract ends you go to a month-to-month contract. There is no difference in price but you can then change phones/plans etc whenever you want after your 2 yrs. With Sprint (at least a few years ago) the contract automatically renews for a whole new 2 yr contract. And they don't give you any warning to your renewal date etc. And then if you try to change it they charge you a cancelation fee. And they don't prorate the fee, you could cancel 1yr & 11 months into your contract and the cancelation fee is the same as Day 2 of the contract. This was a couple of years ago and things might have changed but if you look into Sprint make sure you look into things like that.
I spent many hours fighting with Sprint on the contract at my employers - it was AWFUL!

Straight Talk (owned by the same company that owns Trac Phone and Net 10) offers the iPhone. If you have had good luck with Trac Phone then Straight Talk should work just the same. Also, I have heard that Trac Phone will be offering smart phones later this year (before Christmas). I am not sure if the Iphone is in the offerings or not. Hope this doesn't add too much confusion to your decisions.

I would choose verizon. As for the iphone I would get 4s 16g (memory)..

Dont get anything smaller for teen with pics and apps and music she will run out of space quick.

Do you know if Straight Talk will offer service for the iPhone without data? I will be getting a new iPhone in September and I planned to give my DD my old 4s but it's an AT&T phone which means she can't use it on Page Plus (ATT Phones can't work on the Verizon network). I don't want to give her access to data because (1) she really doesn't need it and (2) it's too expensive.

I would get the iPhone 5, especially if you go with Verizon. The iPhone 4S is a 3G phone. Yes some of them say 4G, but that's only because AT&T and other carriers have figured out how to squeeze more speed out of a 3G network by limiting your upload speed. It is not true 4G. Even if Verizon does not have 4G in your area, it will soon. He will want 4G if he is planning on tethering.

The only reason I say 4s is because its 100 cheaper. then 5 last time I looked
