Staying 8 nights with kids in ages ranging 1-13. Where would you stay? Poly room would be in DVC away from construction.

I'm not a huge fan of the current poly....
The pool is nice, but the yacht club's pool is nicer....

the one year old isn't going to know and the 13 year old.... thats kinda tough.... monorail resorts are cool, but the skyliner and being close to epcot HS is nice too....

Yacht club would be my first pick...

Stormalong bay looks so neat to me and we do plan on spending time at the resort pools.

When I am planning on spending more time at the resort, being in the boardwalk beach club area, or the springs area is nice because I can just go for a walk and enjoy the weather, the area, etc....

That is harder to do in the MK area....

And the Stormalong bay is a blast.....

How many people total? I'm assuming more than 4 because you said "kids in ages ranging... ."

6 total but one is under age 3 so he doesn’t count toward room total. Kids ages 13,9,6,1

oh yea? my wife tries that in the poly, those studios maybe listed for 5,
but they are better for 3 or 4...

I would not enjoy a vaction with 5 or 6 people in a poly studio

If it were me I'd book a DVC 1 bedroom unit. Six in a studio/regular hotel room will be tight.

If Poly DVC and YC are your only options, I'd recommend the Poly DVC. It has a bathroom with a shower and sink and another bathroom with a shower/sink/toilet.

If you are able to do a DVC 1 bedroom unit, I'd recommend Old Key West, Bay Lake Towers or Kidani. BLT and Kidani both have two full bathrooms. BLT is walking distance to Magic Kingdom. OKW rooms are large so you'll have room to spread out a bit.

I will be the dissenting vote. With those wide gap ages, SAB is too oddly sprawling and hard to keep up with everyone. But then, I'm not a fan of it anyway.

YC is too quiet IMO for lots of kids. Between the overall vibe, conventions, etc., Poly would be much more fun. YC is my favorite non DVC though.

Now, if you were asking BC vs Poly, I'd pick BC based on the ages.

I would not want to meet the kids that think YC is too quiet ???

Never said it was the kids.

Eta: in fairness I did say lots of kids, but I really meant lots of kids from the parents point of view.

I think beach club is still available for our dates.

I’m going to check into the 1 bdrm units. Thank you for the suggestion.

I actually met a woman on the bus who didn't like the YC because she had 3 boys, and didn't like the "adult vibe", as she called it. Several years later, my parents were celebrating their 60th anniversary, and decided to stay in the YC instead of their usual BC. They ended up preferring the YC because of what they called the more "adult vibe". I thought it was interesting that both parties used the same words to describe it.

Most audlts act like children anyway..... Maybe it is because they don't have character dining?

For me this would be decided by what parks I wanted to visit more. YC/BC for walking/boat access to EPCOT and HS, Poly for monorail access to MK and EPCOT. I will also agree that YC has more of an adult vibe than most Disney resort.

I’d pick Poly. Yes, studios are a bit tight with 6. The Poly studio is bigger than most and it has the full bathroom with toilet-sink-shower/bathtub and another bathroom with big rainfall shower and sink (no extra toilet though). Many people set the pack and play up in that ‘2nd’ bathroom. Plus the benefit of people being able to wash up at the same time.

The volcano and oasis pools are very nice! You can’t beat hanging out at the pool with MK in the background. I also think those pools are better suited for the kids ages. Stormalong Bay is hard to keep tabs on younger children, and the slide they actually need to exit the pool area to enter.

OKW has a great point chart, the 1BR is huge and depending on dates might not be many more points than Poly. The tradeoff is location and easier to utilize resort amenities. Poly is so much fun. You know your kids and family best. If you think you can manage in Poly it’s very cool. 2 kids can sleep on the murphy bed, and one in the single pull down. Baby in pack and play and queen bed for parents.

I picked Split because I simply always like Splits. So does my family (though no little kids anymore).

Splits are like a new vacation with each Split.

Poly with the slight lead in the poll :goodvibes

Yacht Club rooms are 380 square feet. Poly DVC rooms 447sf.

Poly 2 showers. YC one.

Poly has more pool and hot tub choices. YC’s Stormalong Bay is like a mini water park but I’d take a look at a walk through video and consider how it might work with your family. Then look at Poly options. Compare the room as well.

I love the location of Epcot area resorts. YC is pleasant 7 minute walk into Epcot. Walking to hollywood studios is closer to 20 minutes and the only other option is boat. The boat is lovely but hard to beat Poly where you can monorail to both MK and EP, take the ferry or resort boat (recommend this one at least once).

Between these 2? Try Poly this time and save BC/YC for when the average age of kids is older and the pool will be more fun for the whole family. If you do pick YC - try the Ale & Compass breakfast. A hidden gem!
