In May we have planned 9 nights at POR. We stayed there last April and really liked it. To give you a bit of background, my hubby loves fishing, sports, hunting, etc. I however, am a teacher. I love wine tasting and a bit of luxury every now and then. :rotfl: I know... Opposites attract! :rotfl2:
Please don't take it that I don't enjoy the great outdoors! I do. I just like to live it up every now and then and luxury does not bother me. However, hubby likes to be "comfortable."

This will be our third trip with our daugher 4 years old soon to be 5. I would LOVE to stay at a Delxue Resort especially with the buy 4 get 3 free deal..

DH thought Swan was to "ritzy" (sp?) for him when we stayed there.

My question is...
Which deluxe would my hubby like????? He doesn't like fancy. He is a country bumkin! Or Should I just stay at POR where he is comfortable???? Just curious and would like any thoughts or ideas? :thanks:

The Wilderness Lodge. By the way that you describe your husband, this place was made for him. You will enjoy it also. It is beautiful

I would pick the AKL or the WL. Personally, I don't like the WL--but t hen I'm not the outdoorsy type. I love the looks of the AKL and it is the only deluxe I have any desire to stay at.

You could have been discribing my husband and myself!
He loved the AKL and i really liked it. He also really liked the YC though. But his favorite was AKL. Now we went over to the Wilderness lodge and we both liked it there but he said he would rather stay at the AKL.
I did like that the AKL does not share a bus with anyone and the stmosphere was wonderful and different. Loved the restaurants and the Cast members were wonderful.
Have fun deciding...:)

Wilderness Lodge is what I would say. This resort was our first trip to WDW in August and we loved the place.

I highly recommended either WL or AKL, Have stayed at both and they are awesome. We are staying at AKL in October and the kids are beyond excited.

By the description of your husband I think he would love the WL :thumbsup2. The resort is beautiful and has a WOW factor as soon as you walk in the lobby :goodvibes. With him loving the outdoors so much I think the WL would be a perfect fit :). Good luck deciding and have a magical trip :wizard:.

I agree with the other posters WL or AKL. We have stayed at both. AKL is a little further out but there is tons to do at the resort it self. WL you can beat the boat to MK. Both are beautiful resorts & have great Lobbys.

WL sounds like that would be for him. I just stayed there, feels very homey, ate a few times at GF and I thought that wasnt me although I could play the part while there for dinners. WL is by far my number one choice to feel comfortable. everyone from the front desk to the valet to the restuarants to the fast food, hard to describe it is just a nice feeling going into WL. I heard so many people walking in for the first time and gasping and saying how nice it is. Dont forget swan is not a disney hotel, to me that makes a big difference. No matter what you chose hope you have aFUNtastic time:)

You might consider the PR, WL or the AKL. I would recommend them in the order I provided them.

I'd say the WL, or maybe AKL. I've never stayed at either (or any other deluxe), but the WL is so beautiful. It's on our "one day" list.

I would highly recommend AKL or WL. They are both fantastic places to be near nature. We spent a day at WL on our last trip and both agreed that it was a great resort. It might be just the "nature" you're looking for...

However...if anyone in your family likes animals AT ALL you cannot beat AKL for animal viewing and the activities, like using night vision goggles or trying to spot all the animals on your in-room checklist.

Wherever you stay you should visit one of the other resorts so you have more options in the future!

Thanks so much! We are having such a hard time deciding! We have read great things about both. We have heard bad things about WL transportation. We have been to disney to know that transportation is what it is but would like to improve that factor into this vacation. We are leaning toward WL with its proximity to things.....

If your husband loves fishing , try to take a fishing excursion . It departs from the lodge. My husband does this every trip and loves it. Also, I believe theres new archery lessons at fort wilderness that I'm looking into for our next trip , It sound interesting..Have fun planning..

I'm going to go against the grain and say the Polynesian. It may not be "country" but it is definitely relaxing. Transportation can't be beat. Your dd will love the monorail and the zero entry pool.

I agree with everyone else that the WL or AKL sound perfect for you.

WL has great boat transportation to the MK. You can also take the boat to the CR and hop on the monorail for dining at the monorail hotels or if you'd prefer to take the TTC monorail to Epcot instead of the busses.

AKL is all busses, but they dont share the busses with any other resort. It's more out of the way, but the dedicated busses might be faster in the long run since they dont stop at a bunch of resorts on each trip.

I think we are going to go with WL. I've been reading reviews etc. I like the transportation thing. It seems like we will have lots of options.

My last question...

Can anyone recommend what area of the resort we should stay in? I know I can make a request. I realize I may not get it.

We are going May 16 - 25 and we are looking at woods view.

We made our decision and have decided on Wilderness Lodge. :woohoo: I would like to thank everyone here. You guys made a world of difference when trying to decide and thank you for answering all my questions.

We would have loved to stay at the Polynesian but there is a significant price difference between the two. Actually, the Poly was our 1st choice.

We are excited and I hope this will turn out to be a great decision!
