Hi!

Well, I have really messed myself up these last few days! I am totally carbed-out, for lack of a better word--bloated, exhausted, uninterested in things, etc. I have been doing pretty well, but this past week, little by little, I loaded them on!

I am a major carb addict, and until recently had been doing well on atkins. I am almost 10 weeks pregnant, so I had to go off of the atkins plan. Pregnancy works weel for me food wise, I am not very hungry, have few cravings, etc.

I got on the scale this week, and realized I had lost two pounds--and figured I had better eat a bit more. So I started eating things that look and taste good, to fill up my diet a bit more--a bowl of pasta here, pack of cupcakes there, some regular sugar soda here. Now, after about 5 days, I feel lousy, and I know why, but I am not sure how to shake off this card induced haze....
Any advice? Normally, I would go on induction, and feel better in about 48 hours (I have been here before), but due to the pregnancy, I can't--I need a variety of foods, including carbs.

ANy hints, helps. or support would be appreciated!

Wishing you all a great week!
Samantha

Aloha! :D

Samantha, do you have any Atkins Advantage bars in the house? If not, I'd get some QUICK! They help me out A LOT when I need that gooey cakey sweet stuff...Only 2 net carbs each! I think they are the tastiest...And if you drink tons of water with them, they are very filling! And they WILL NOT start the carb ball rolling like other junkie food does.

Be easy on yourself! Despite your best intentions, those changing hormones have a mind of their own!:rolleyes:

Congrats!:)

Samantha? Sweetie? We need to talk, pull up a chair, put your feet up, get comfy. Ask anyone here, I could talk the ears off an elephant...sad but true ;)

Okay, I'm so excited that you are pregnant, we're having a WISH baby and that is just incredibly exciting for me.

Now, let's talk about carbohydrates. There are good carbohydrates. You find them in fruit and veggies or the complex carbohydrates in legumes. Carbohydrates are good.

Then....well, then there are bad carbohydrates. We call them refined carbohydrates. No one needs refined carbohydrates to be healthy. Things like white bread, pasta, sugar, corn starch, white rice...these foods have no nutritional value.

Now, you can give up refined carbohydrates and be perfectly healthy. You can't give up fruits and veggies though. Your baby needs fruits and veggies, wild rice is good. 7 grain bread and whole wheat pasta...these are good.

Don't give up carbohydrates completely but don't lump all carbs together, they are not created equal. Why don't you try not eating refined carbohydrates and see how you feel? Those are the carbs that cause the bloating and the hangover. Do you think you could give those up?

The most important thing here is to keep you and that sweet WISH baby 100% healthy. Have you discussed any of this with your obstetrician? You should discuss this with her/him too.

Hope you are feeling better very soon, sweetie. {{{HUGS}}}
