Ok, I know this is a great problem to have, but I can't decide whether to do a 4 day Halloween concierge or a 7 day Halloween non conceirge.
The biggest issues are 1.) Afraid I'll get bored since we won't be getting off the boat, and I don't know how hard the cruise from San Diego to Mexico will be on my tummy. The last 7 day I got seasick heading to the Caribean (a Cm said something about some kind of thing we cross on that route that makes the water choppy?) - But I was always fine from Port Canaveral to Nassau. Having never gone that way, I don't know what to expect. To top it off my vertigo has gotten a little worse over the last six months.

On the other hand, having 7 days with my sweetie in her favorite place (ANY boat on the ocean) and my favorite place (Anywhere I can get immersed in Disney) also sounds amazing....

The 'thing you cross' is the jet stream and always causes chop for ships heading southeasterly from Florida. You won't have that heading south out of SD. That time of year (Halloween-ish) the seas should be fine heading south down Baja and points beyond.

7 days vs. 4 days. 7 wins

Well, my preference is always for the longer, the better. So a 7 night would win out over a 4 night.

Yeah, I'd lean towards 7 days...longer the better for me. Concierge is always nice, but I still think I'd take the 7 days.

I would take a 7-nighter, but the bigger question is, why do that itinerary at all if you have no interest in getting off the ship? I can understand skipping one port (e.g. I usually skip Nassau) but all of them? ETA: That is not meant to sound judge-y - just legit curious.

Because we like being on a boat in the ocean - for us the ship IS the destination.
And it has to be out of San Diego because paying for the flight out to pt canveral from Arizona and the cruise would be a bit much.
Add to that that we are a lesbian couple, who while not overtly in your face, might hold hands without thinking, or have a quick peck without thinking - and we get nervous in countries that are not at least as open-minded as the USA. So we feel safer on the boat.

Have you looked at options to help with sea sickness? Bonine works really well for me. There are prescription options too.

I am so sorry you have to think about whether you can show affection to your significant other in places you travel. I can only hope that one day that won't even be a second thought for couples in your situation.

A homosexual couple kissing isn't likely to cause anyone to bat an eyelash in the tourist areas of the Caribbean. It's mostly American tourists around, plus Caribbean workers who are trying to please American tourists, so the demographics are actually fairly similar to what you will find onboard the ship.

Will Bonine make me seasick?
And thank you for your kindness, while it's something we have to think about, it's not something we let get us down anymore.

What about the toruist area of Mexico? I don't even know if it'l illegal there.

Homesexuality was decriminalized in Mexico before it was decriminalized in the United States. Same sex marriages can be performed in Mexico City, and those marriages are legally respected in other parts of Mexico.

Culturally, Mexicans tend to be modest and respectful people, and it would be considered rude for anyone to openly criticize a stranger in public, even if that person happened to privately disapprove.

Unless you're planning a vacation to Saudi Arabia or Iran, ANY place outside of the USA that welcomes tourists on a regular basis is as open-minded as the USA.

Oh AWESOME thank you! THen maybe we will look at an excursion...

I know that we might seem paranoid and silly, but, You only have to be beaten so badly in your own backyard that you get put in the hospital once before you learn to be afraid.we both grew up in a small town and learned early on to be scared (I'm the youngest at 45, so this was in a time that feels like a different world from now.) I've heard all these horror stories about how things are in other countries, and the thought of putting my wife in danger... well it doesn't get any worse.

But given this information about Mexico - it really does sound like we should be relatively safe if we play it smart, so it looks like an excursion is in the cards for us! Again, thank you!
Now I just have to figure out how to find which excursions are on that itinerary and which ones are a great value!

Sat down, spent the night talking it overw with the wife, finally got her to say more than "whatever you want honey" and she gave me a third option.
We're gonna do the 4 day cruise, the Disneyland Halloween party & a day at Universal - then we'll go home and back to everyday life. =)

Thank all of you for your input =), you really helped me figure out what I want - esp with the Cabot port day!

My son and his partner vacationed for a week in Mexico and had zero issues. Was not an issue at all. They were treated just like everyone else. They are in Italy right now. I would only worry about them if they went to certain Muslim country where homosexuality is punishable by death.

We often don't get off the ship on itineraries. We sail for the ship and the amenities offered. I've gotten off the ship in St Thomas to do a run on land vs at sea. We got off in Puerto Rico once because the ship diverted there due to mechanical issue, so I went and visited a college friend. The only exception to this was when we sailed Alaska, but we didn't sail on Disney.

My family is sailing on the Wonder in concierge on the July 8th cruise. If you have any specific questions about concierge or the lounge I will make notes for you and report back on the 17th.

And FYI I am jealous about the Disneyland Halloween party -- I have done the Christmas one in Magic Kingdom, but not halloween (hard time to travel as a teacher)

Specific questions
What is the concierge staff like on the Wonder? We're a little worried that they won't be able to live up to the legacy the last crew left with us. (Fantasy I think?)
We'd done the Halloween party a couple of times in WDW but never done Disneyland.
This is actually our first Disney vacation in five years - the move kind of threw us off and it took a while to get back on our feet.
