I have a Premium room booked at both the Hojo and the CCI for our 7 night stay Nov 09 to the 16th and I just can't decide which one to go with. I was originally set to go with Hojo as we had enjoyed our past stay in Feb 2013. We found the room to be very clean with super comfortable beds and loved that there was lots of space to put all our stuff. I am a bit concerned about DS7 walking back to the Hojo after a day at the parks as this is his first non-stroller trip (I know DD10 will whine about it but she will be fine). For this reason, I thought the added amenity of the shuttle back to the CCI will be useful. I also thought I might feel safer taking the shuttle back as there are a couple evenings where DH may not be joining us. I booked the premium room for the additional size, delivered breakfast and the late check out (our flight isn't until 4:30 pm on the 16th). I did use a Facebook discount for some of our nights at the Hojo so the total price is around $400 cheaper there. That is a good chunk of change to spend on other stuff but worth it to me if we are happier at the CCI. But will I be $400 happier? Your help in deciding this will be much appreciated!:confused3

For $400 I would stick with Hojo.
The shuttle would be nice, but you have to time it just right to make the shuttle pick up time. My guess is you would more times than not, end up waiting 10ish minutes for the shuttle. If the kids are going to be tired, whiney, sluggish, they are going to be that way weather they walk or are waiting on the shuttle....might as well walk and get back to the room

HoJo isn't that far. And you are surrounded by tourists and cars so I have never had a safety concern, even while walking with my then little dude. Shuttles are on their schedule. Feet are on yours. Start walking with your kids now so they get what's expected of them.

Hmm, If the only difference is the walk, remember the ART has a stop at the HoJo's and then there is no issues. We have stayed at both HoJo's and Quality Inn and Suites around the corner and both times used ART from the HoJo's. The one nice thing about the shuttle at CCI is it is a dedicated hotel shuttle. But we found ART worked well when my knees needed a break. If you do decide to walk it is not too bad. Just cross Harbor and straight down to the entrance (took us about 15 minute leisurely walking).

I'll say it. It doesn't matter to me which one you choose. However I think it's very selfish to have your weeklong stay booked at two different, popular affordable hotels during peak season just because "you can't decide." Next time, maybe decide first before you potentially shut another guest or family out of a hotel that you won't end up using.

I'd probably save the $400 and stay at the Hojo if those were my two choices.

Thank-you mikedoyleblogger for taking the time out to taking the time out to judge me personally. I checked and both of these rooms are still available to be booked. I will decide in the next day or so and cancel the reservation I choose not to keep so shouldn't be any impact on any other families :sad1:

I have not stayed at CCI (though I'm always tempted), but we have stayed at Hojo when my children were those ages. We had no problem with the walk and loved the pool area. My Aunt (in her 70's) had one very hot day when the walk was a challenge, but otherwise fine. We ate fruit and cereal in the room for breakfast and would go back each afternoon for a rest, walking to and from the park twice a day for 4 days. For $400, I would choose Hojo. All things being equal, would choose CCI as I've always wanted to try it. Good luck!

I had some of the same concerns before my first off-site stay with my DGD6. We have always stayed on-site but I got APs for both of us this spring, so in order to be able to afford more trips, we have to stay off-site for some of them. We were at HoJo's for a week and I was worried about the walk back with just me (grandma) and my 6 year old granddaughter. We took breaks every day and the walk ended up being no problem at all for her. I wished it was shorter sometimes, but I have plantar fasciitis in my left heel so I was in a little bit of pain. $400 will go a long way towards other fun, and HoJo's has super comfy beds and their customer service can't be beat. My DGD6 and I will be staying there again from Nov. 20-26 and I'm not worried about the walk at all, even at night with just the two of us.

Thanks everyone for helping me think this through. It does make sense to save the money and go with the Hojo!
