Help,
We (DH, DS9, DD11) are leaving for our 4 day cruise to Nassau/Castaway Cay in 18 days, and after reading some of these threads I have found out that we have to have passports to board the ship???

Disney has assured me when we booked, that this is not so, but some of you experienced people are telling me that it is a must to have a passport.

I am so confused, and now I don't even have time to get passports. I was assured everytime that I called Disney, that birth certificates and photo ID (Drivers License) were fine.

Has anyone gone on the cruise that I am going on recently, without a passport???

I'll tell you what one nice TA told me here: Breathe in, breathe out....you'll be fine!! We sailed Feb 2005, also from Canada, no passports req'd yet. It is changing by the end of the year. I suggest in the morning you call your TA and check with her. If you didn't book with a TA, call DCL again to verify. All our docs prior to leaving said Birth Certificate and Picture ID, you'll be fine. Your children only need their original Province Birth Cert. As a safeguard when we got home we bought our Passports for all 4 of us and never have to go through that panic stricken feeling again. My arguement with hubby was if a good deal for a cruise came up we'd be all set. Anyway, something to think about for when you get home . We live near Windsor, we got our Passports in 10 days. Good luck, let us know how you made out in the morning!!! You'll be fine, don't lose your night's sleep over it!!!(like I did) :wave2:

I totally agree with kp66, we travelled with another family all without passports..NO problem, until the end of the year..Enjoy your cruise, and try not to worry..I KNOW, i know..Easier said than done.. :goodvibes

Not to be a downer but when we did the 4 day Wonder in November 2004 I was told by my TA that we needed passports since we were non-US residents. I was also told the same thing by DCL for our May Repositioning cruise. Not sure if that was because of the ports we were visiting or not.

I would check with DCL and verify the information...if they say you don't need them make sure you get the CM's name and have that information with you when you ready to board. If you don't need the passports... make sure you have extra photo ID with you in case DCL "keeps" your birth certificates and photo ID for customs purposes.

There has been a lot of debate over this. From all the posts that have been posted the final word was that if you are sailing on the 3 or 4 day cruise NO passports are required. If you are sailing on a 7 day or more, you DO NEED passports.

This will change soon as everyone will be required to have passports but I think you are okay until January 1st 2005.
