Escape Weddings occurring on Saturday and Sunday and Weddings that have additional catered events must meet a $7,500 minimum expenditure. This minimum can be met through a combination of elements provided by Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings including your Escape Package, food & beverage, floral, décor, entertainment, photography/videography, additional transportation and venue rentals.

I copied and pasted this from dftw website, but I am not sure I follow it, can someone please help me understand it.
Thanks

Basically you have to spend a minimum of 7500$ (using Disney) on the day of your wedding. So that minimum can be met by your cost of food, beverages, floral, locations, decor, etc. if they are provided by Disney. Whether you choose to go with outside vendors for some stuff (which Disney also has specific rules about...make sure you read more into it) you still have to guarantee that you will be paying DFTW at least 7500$. Does that answer your question?

Ok, I did understand that part, the part I am unsure of is the wording about having additional catered events. What does that mean exactly? Thanks for your help.

It means that if you for instance decide to add on a dessert party, that triggers the minimum spend. So for DFTW to help you organise your dessert party, the minimum spend for your wedding must meet a total of $7,500 - similiar to the minimum spend our Wishes bride friends have to meet :)

If your Escape package at WP for instance is $5750 which it is at the moment, you have to spend an additional $1,750 to make up your minimum. This will more thank likely be covered with the dessert party if thats what you choose, your you can add additional photography or floral or anything else to make up the minimum spend

My plan for instance, is the Escape package only through DFTW then we will have a wedding meal together at Citricos, but that will be booked directly with the restaurant, so the minimum spend on my wedding wouldn't be triggered - does that help at all?

Hope that makes sense!

Thank you, it all makes sense now. I was thinking that the dining would be part of that minimum but it is not because you just booked as a regular ADR? Thanks!!

Correct—only *catered* events (private meals organized by your wedding planner) trigger the minimum. To avoid the minimum you can make an ADR or arrange a private meal on your own by contacting a restaurant that has a private room, like the Wave, Citricos or Bluezoo.

So, if you want to have an Illuminations Dessert Party that would trigger the minimum. I am thinking of doing the DP but I have only btwn 15-18 guests, so is there any type of minimum for in your guest count for DP?

thanks!

Epcot's smallest DP locations have 10-person minimums, so you'd be fine. :thumbsup2

I was doing some research on Epcot DP's and was wondering about the viewing fee, does this need to be paid if the guests have tickets to Epcot? I guess I just don't really understand what the viewing fee is for. I am not sure if I would want to have the DP the night of the wedding or another evening prior/after. Thanks for the help. Would you know where to look at any menu examples?

Think of the viewing fee as a partial-day ticket to Epcot. It covers what Disney considers to be the price of admission to the park just to view IllumiNations. If your guests already have tickets, you will have to pay the viewing fee for them up front but then will be reimbursed after the event when the final count of who had tickets and who didn't is tallied. (It used to be you only had to pay up front for guests who definitely wouldn't have tickets, but that's changed.)

If you do a search of this board, you should turn up some pretty good results on dessert party menus people have had—there multiple threads devoted to them. (If the DIS' search function doesn't work well, try typing the terms into Google with "site:disboards.com" after them). :thumbsup2

Thanks Lurkyloo, you are really a wealth of DFTW knowledge!!

Are you sure you're not on the Disney Payroll?

I will search.

Thanks again!!
