Ok, with a little over three weeks until we make our first
visit to HP section of IOA I am completely stressing over
being able to ride the Forbidden Journey ride.
Reason being I get motion sick. Heres the thing, if I take
medicine before going to the parks each day I can handle
most rides, even roller coasters that go upside down.
The only motion similator ride I've done has been Dinosaur
@ Disney and I did fine on that.
Can anyone out there thats ridden and that has the same
issue tell me how they did?
I was thinking of having my husband and son ride first and
maybe doing baby swap, seeing what my husband thinks
after he gets off the ride. I would HATE to get on and ruin
my day in the park. My though was to tackle that section
first thing to avoid crazy crowds. Any info. would be so
appreciated! thanks all!:)

I sound very similar to you. I did the best when I took Less Drowsy Dramamine the night before. If I started to feel queazy on the ride, I just closed my eyes during the screen parts. The parts of the ride with actual scenery didn't make me ill in the least. Also, anything that I felt left immediately after getting off the ride.

So, if you aren't sure, close your eyes for the Quidditch parts and have your husband let you know when you can open your eyes again.

thanks for that info. good to know it didnt last after
the ride ended!:goodvibes

I rode it 6 times in two days and then another several the next time we went. Even with the little bit of uneasiness, I felt it was well worth it.

You really need to ride it a few times. The first time, you get overwhelmed and don't really notice everything that is going on around you.

I get a little bit of queaziness in some rides and FJ was no exception. I found it to be the worst when the ride first started so if you can make it through that hopefully you'll be OK. I don't take anything for mine because it's so mild luckily for me.

I have learned my lesson with taking something for motion
sickness each morning before the parks. A few years back
I made the very bad mistake of riding Dueling Dragons first
thing in the morning, no meds, on an empty stomach!
I was so sick when I came off the ride that I actually had
to leave the park and go home for the rest of the day! What
a waste of a ticket. The memory still haunts me!
Another year before I started taking medicine I went in
with my sons so they could ride Jimmy Neutron. I didnt ride,
just sat in the stationary seat to wait for them and it made
me sick to look at the screen! I'm a mess!
Thank goodness I finally learned me lesson, but have still
been leery of the motion simulator type rides..gotta try
at some point though and Im dying to check out FJ!

What type of medicine do you take? Dramamine (regular) seems to be the only thing that works for me, but it also makes me sleepy. I'd love to find a non-drowsy pill that works for me. Unfortunately, Bonine & Non-Drowsy Dramamine don't seem to help at all.

I am from Canada..don't know if this is available in US or not.
My hubby has tunnel vision and is very susceptible to motion sickness. A few years ago we discovered the Transderm V patch. It has scopolamine in it. DH wears one th entire time we travel. As long as he puts it on at night , he has no drowsiness issues during the day and can ride everything without issue.
One patch lasts 72 hours
In Canada available in pharmacies without Rx. Ask your pharmacist.

I don't know the source of your queasiness, but mine has to do with my eyes not working well together. (I get double vision and walk into walls sometimes. Can't drive, obviously.) The first time I went to see a 3-D movie I felt queasy and got a horrible migraine. My doctor told me to close one eye, and the next 3-D movie... well, it wasn't 3-D anymore because I wasn't using both eyes, but it also didn't cause me any pain. :thumbsup2

I was talking to her about our upcoming trip in December, and she told me to either get a eyepatch or tuck a piece of kleenex behind my lens.

Don't know if that helps, but I thought I'd pass it on anyway. I can't take anti-nausea drugs.

I tried that last trip and it didn't work for me. So I guess my source of queasiness is different.

I had my first ride on FJ today - holey wow....

Regarding motion sickness, I'm not prone to it, but not immune to it, either. Towards the end of the ride, I was getting just a little queasy - and I would rather not have had to take the stairs upon getting off the ride. However, by the time I made it back to the lockers, I was perfectly fine. I don't have to take meds for this, but thought I'd share my own experience.

Thanks for your input everyone. I either take Bonine or Dramamine
which says non drowsy but I do tend to feel tired in the afternoon
if I take in the morning. Its worth it though not to feel sick.
I think I will check into something else over the counter. That
patch sounds pretty good, especially if it lasts 72 hours.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that. I wouldn't be surprised, if it was by prescription only here.

I'm not sure what my source of queasiness is. I've always been told I have a weak stomach whatever that means. I get nauseated easily. I've always gotten motion sickness in cars, but used to be fine on rides. Unfortunately, the older I get the worse the motion sickness gets.
