Help - can I do this???

Okay, I have a reservation for November with this years (2003) points, I borrowed some from 2004 for a February trip, we booked a 1 bedroom at Vero, we just got back from Vero and realized we really like being in the Inn, so we want to change our plans and be in the Inn. Can I ask MS to take the borrowed points and switch them to my November reservation and bank the remaining 2003 points, because if I change the reservation, the 2004 borrowed points go into a holding and I only have a few days to use them!! I have a March use year. Thanks in advance.

Take things one step at a time.

At this point, nothing will be going into a holding account. That only happens when you cancel less than 31 days out.

Go ahead and call MS to see whether there is availability for February in the Inn. If that's what you want, they will cancel the one-bedroom and book the Inn room. (You must tell them to cancel the one-bedroom.)

The points you borrowed from March 2004 must be used by the end of February 2004. If you are more comfortable using them on the November trip, ask Member Services to reallocate the points to that trip. Before you hang up, ask how many current Use Year 2003 points you have remaining. You have until the end of this month to bank between 50%-100% of your total points. On September 1, you will only be able to bank 50% or less.

PamOKW - thanks again for your help, someday I will understand how all this works, got my Inn Ocean View, and was able to switch the points around, no problems!!! Its amazing how easy the point system works if you understand it!!! I am one of those fixed unit/week blockheads, and still trying to grasp the whole point setup!! I love being able to pick the type of room!!

And that will be YOU in no time at all. When in doubt, just slow down and break it down into steps -- look at each set of points, when they expire, etc., etc.
