Has anyone stayed in the cabins at Fort Wilderness? My sister and I are looking into them for our stay this summer. We need a place that we can share as there will be six or seven of us. I know they only reserve for six but my daughter will be two and turning three that week and we will probably put her in a portable crib or something. I'd like to hear from anyone on their experience there. Thank you!
Also, the lady I spoke to on the phone from Disney told me to watch for discounts. I don't know where to look for these. She said they may be in the newspaper. I doubt they would be in a South Dakota paper, would they? ::MinnieMo

We stayed there last Nov. They are great for families! In the bedroom there is 1 double bed and a bunkbed. And in the living area there is a fold away murphy bed (double).
You could squeeze in a portable crib (I think they provide them-ask) between the bunk and the bulit-in vanity along the wall but you will have to move it to use the hairdryer. Not much room in there but Im sure you could make do. Since you daughter is 2 she wont count as an actual body in the room so you should be safe with 7.

Go to WWW.Mousesaver.com to check for codes that will give you a discount when you call for reservations.
You can usually get a discount if you buy an annual pass. This usually saves you the most money but you need to consider the extra $$ it costs to buy this pass vs a regular park hopper. Alot of times it still works out to be the best deal. Especially if you go more than once a year.
There are also codes that anyone can use and also codes for discounted packages (will at the very least include ultimate park hoppers). These are all only good for a certain block of time and have an expiration date so stay current!

My advise is to make your reservation now and in the meantime study mousesavers as though it were your bible. Discounts go fast so keep up! Do your math and figure out which avenue is best for you and your family and will save you the most money. Have fun planning but be careful its addictive!!:teeth:

The cabins are awesome !!! Full-sized fridge, dishwasher, etc. The only downside for that many people would be the fact that there is only one bathroom. And, not sure if it's changed or not, but we were only allowed to have one car on the site. Since we had 2 vehicles, we had to leave one up at the check-in area. A bit of a pain because other than MK, we like to drive to the parks.

In many respects, you don't even realize you're in Disney ... which is refreshing after a long day at the parks. Although I never mind always feeling like I'm IN Disney when I'm there ... if you're looking for theming, the Cabins definitely do not have this. The pools are plain, no theming, no sprayer jets, no slides. But River Country is right there !

As for deals, I would check: www.mousesavers.com

good luck !

NAISY,
I forgot to add that you can make your reservations now and add a code when it comes out. Good luck!
