Help: Booking/Borrowing/Banking

I currently have a Tuesday through Sunday reservation and am contemplating changing to a Wednesday through Monday reservation as I am "up in the air" as to what days we will be flying. If I had enough points I would just add the Monday and then drop the one day we wont be using.

My question is....I already borrowed points for this reservation...if I borrow the necessary points for another extra day and then want to drop a day...can I have the points return as current use year points so that I can bank them? Or will they return as borrowed points that have to be used sooner?

If the current reservation was made using current and borrowed points from only one contract you should be able to borrow to add another day and then cancel either the first or last day so that MS can reallocate the points used for the reservation using the borrowed points freeing up points from the current Use Year. As long you are still in the first 8 months of your Use Year at that time, you would be able to bank any current points. If it's done within 30 days of arrival, points would become Holding Account points and could not be banked.

If the reservation was made using multiple contracts it could be a little more challenging, but can likely still be done with a skilled MS rep.

If the entire reservation was booked with borrowed points, then any points you borrow to book another day would have to stay in that UY since you don't have any current UY points to replace them with when you cancel.

The only time over borrowing will work is if you are borrowing less points than the current UY points that are part of a reservation.
