Help!! BM Fears!

My daughter was the same way. We found the best solution for her was shredded wheat cereal for breakfast. Beans are also high in fiber and would help, but she wouldn't eat those. That and mixing juice with water and getting her to drink as often as possible. After she got used to the softer easier BM's her fear diminished. Another thing we did was to allow her to bring a couple of books with her and just said to read for a while and relax and that will make it easier. That really helped her take her mind off of her fear.

This sounds like where we were a little over 1 year ago. DS got finally got pee trained at nearly 4. What a relief. We put him in underwear every day for preschool (they were helping with the training). He rarely had any accidents. But... he wouldn't poop. The first 4 days without pull-ups he didn't poop at all. He was in tears. I couldn't bear to see him suffer, so I put him back in the pull-ups. He would poop in them, but use the toilet for #1.

We tried to train him for poop on the potty, we'd sit him on the potty as soon as he looked like he was going. Offered rewards. Increased fiber and fruit. Nothing worked. We learned his pattern. He'd wear big-boy underpants all day and then we'd put him in pull ups after dinner for his "time". After what seemed like years, but was really 4 months, he was ready. He pooped at school. And a week later we threw out the pull-ups. That was last April.

Relaxation was the key for him. He needed time to get comfortable with the concept before he could relax enough. I just remembered one more tip. He was also confused about when to stand when to sit on the potty.

Best of luck....

Ok, here's a question for ya'll.........my ds (number 4 btw) will be 3 this July........He is pee trained, no problem there.
I've had him in underwear for a couple months now.
He also will not do number 2 in the potty but he does not ask for or wait for a diaper...........he just goes in his undies and doesn't seem to give a flip about it. He does not come and tell me that he has gone. I just find him that way.
We have spent time on the potty when he has eaten and has not gone yet, so I know he needs to. Sat there and sat there, read books, colored, etc. Finally gave up and then 5 mins later, he goes.
He's not holding it in, he's going, but in his pants.
Doesn't seem to be scared at all.........so I can't figure this one out.
Like I said, he is number 4 for us and my other 3 didn't have this kind of issue. My other son did take longer to learn number 2 but it was more of a hit or miss with him. Sometimes in the potty, sometimes in his pants. But this one is always in his pants!
Any ideas?
