For all you veterens of independent travel to the world, what and where is the best and cheapest way to book accommodation? Needs to be onsite as I don't drive.

Thanks
Annmarie

For onsite, I recommend getting a quote from Dreams Unlimited (affilliated to this site - link at the top of the home page). The original quote may be the 'going rate' which would be the same as booking direct with WDW, but they will keep a look out for any applicable discounts that might appear between now and the time you go.

Dealing with DU is all done through e-mail, so it saves you any tran-Atlantic phone calls and your agent can also make any PS bookings you want as well. :)

They have booked 3 trips for me in the past and saved me £100s!

(Someone also mentioned in Chat on Sunday that there are good rates available through the Disney.uk website at the moment because the exchange rate seems to have thrown up some better deals than going direct through WDW .)

If you HAVE to be on site then I think using Dreams is going to be your best route. They seem to constantly have the best deals for the Swan if you like a little luxury.

If you don't mind a little risk and would consider a hotel that's close to WDW it may be worth checking on http://www.hotwire.com to see what rates they can get you on the dates you're going. I just found a 3.5 * hotel with loads of facilities for $71 a night. There is a reasonable chance that hotels of that calibre would have a shuttle service to WDW, they might be in walking distance of DTD, or if not the cost of a taxi to DTD may make it worthwhile. Even if you don't use this service for the WDW area, if you decide you wanted to stay on I-Drive a few days for Universal and Seaworld instead of taking a taxi all the way there on a number of occassions from WDW it would save you a lot of $$$s
