Help! We were scheduled to stay at VWL, now due to overbooking, we are at OKW. My question is, which studios are the best for a quiet, romantic getaway? I have never stayed at OKW and from some of the posts I am a little worried, should I be? By the way we will be in a studio. Please, any help would be great, I really do not know anything about OKW! Thank you so much, these boards are the best! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

We are DVC owners at BWV and VWL; however, OKW is tied w/BWV as far as our favorite place to stay at WDW! We LOVE OKW!!!

IMO-The best place is Southpoint on the canal. It is beautiful there. Some of the buildings are a little bit farther from the bus stop, but that does not bother us one bit. I have stayed on Penninsular 2 times, Turtle Pond 1 time and Southpoint 1 time. There is no bad location, but as I said, so far Southpoint (building 46) has been my favorite. Closely followed by Penninsular w/a woods or water view. You can visit the DVC board for more advice. There are many of us members sold on OKW! Plus, there is a favorite OKW location pole going on right now!

Don't worry about staying at OKW. It is a wonderful resort with a very nice feel to it. It is very relaxing, quiet and romantic. The bus system is efficient too!

Have a great time!

We too are DVC members...I would second the vote for a studio in Buildings 45 or 46. They are a tad farther to the bus stop...but it is still maybe a 2 minute walk tops (and I am slow!!)...the views of the waterway are so peaceful...a little coffee on the balcony watching all the egrets and herons in the AM is just the BEST!!

You might ask for a second or third floor unit to feel like you are up in the treetops. It is quiet and we love sitting out and watching the boats in the afternoons also.

Thanks so much for the reassurance! yes, they called to notify us. Does anyone know if bldg.46 is non smoking? This would be about my only request. Is the only hot tub at the main pool? Its fine if it is, but was just wondering. Thanks again for all of the responses, this has given me a better feeling now :teeth:

I am almost certain 45 and 46 are non-smoking. We are not smokers and my kids HATE any trace of smoke smell, but I rarely make a smoking request, because they have an excellent aircleaning system and we have never had a problem with smell even when placed in a smoking building (I usually prefer to have my location request over smoking/non-smoking).

Have a wonderful trip.

The quiet pool at Bld. 19 also has a jacuzzi. Not sure if all the quiet pools do.

I know 46 in nonsmoking; because, that is the building we stayed in. I am not sure about 45 though.

I request OKW in my order of preferance like this: Nonsmoking, canal view, upper floor.

You may want a lower floor as there are no elevators at OKW, except in buildings 61, 62 and 63, to help w/taking luggage/groceries up to your room, so you must navigate stairs w/your belongings to reach your room. This doesn't really bother me though. I prefer to have a balcony instead of a patio, so we haul it all up the stairs. If you or your spouse have a problem w/stairs, then you would want to put ground floor in your request somewhere.
