Ok, heres the deal; I really want to go to DLRP this year and found the really good Coach Innovations deal. I can afford it and its in the summer holidays so won't interfere with work. So whats the problem you may ask? Well, there isn't anyone who can come with me. My friends are mostly students/have other expenses to cover and my mum can't justify affording to come with me. So I would have to go alone. :scared1: What I need help/courage with is persuading my parents that at 19 years old I am mature and smart enough to be able to make my way to the pick up point and survive the day in Paris and Disneyland. I think their main problem with it will be that I will have to travel up to London Victoria and catch the coach at 11:30pm. To be perfectly honest, I'm a bit nervous about that bit too. They know about the deal and know how much I want to go. So, any suggestions? I need some :wizard: I think!

Well if my kids are anything to go by, all you need to do is flash some puppy dog eyes at them and re-assure them you'll be fine :goodvibes

My ds - who has just turned 18 - will shortly be going on his first holiday without us, and whilst he'll be with his friends, I'm still worried about it. I don't think your parents would be normal if they didn't worry about you, but at the same time you are 19, officially a 'grown-up' and you don't really need their permission, so I think it's lovely that you're asking them and considering their feelings :cloud9:

Show then that you've thought of everything, planned the travel arrangements and can provide them with a full itinerary of where you'll be and when. Agree to phone/text them every day/night and stick to it. Remind them that you'll not be the only person travelling to catch the coach, and that the area will most probably be very busy when you get there.

I hope it all works out :wizard:

Thanks for the advice Ms Poppins! Guess what? They said YES!!! They also said that I didn't really 'need' their permission, but I like to have their approval. It was watching parts of 'Dreams' on youtube that won my mum over; she says she wishes that she could afford to come with my brother too! They say that they worry that I will be lonely without anyone to go with and that I have to text them at every stage of the journey and occasionally throughout the days. I think it also helps that I have used the coach company before and had a good experience with them. Plus, I looked up the train journey when I was planning to ask and it helps that its only one stop between London Liverpool and Victoria. Look out for my pre trippy! :woohoo:  :dance3: :yay: :cloud9: :wizard:

I used to live near Victoria and worked nights which meant that I was regularly walking around that area at 3/4 o'clock in the mornings after a night shift - I never had any problems and you won't be the only person heading from the train station to the coach station. Word of advise though - Victoria underground Station is a pain in the bum with a large suitcase as there's no escalators so either pack light or give yourself plenty of time!

Thanks for the reassurance, that does make me feel better. And I will! I don't fancy lugging a great big suitcase around Disney either!

Was going to say go for it - I LOVE travelling alone, and would love to do Disney alone tbh, then I could do what I wanted when I wanted LOL! I flew for the first time when I was 19 - alone, from Manchester to Atlanta, Atlanta to Salt Lake City, SLC to Idaho, then from Idaho to Seattle and back. I was terrified at first, as although my uncle was meeting me at the other end, it was a bit of a trek alone - but, I loved it! I've been all over on my own, usually to gigs etc. and so long as you are sensible and don't go wandering off into unknown territory you'll be fine.

Saying that - I'd be worried if it was DD, but we have 10 years or so to worry about her travelling alone (she may want to go visit her uncle when she hits her teens! Hopefully we will always be able to afford to go with her!)

Enjoy your holiday!!:cool1:

Thanks! They've backed down a bit now, they want me to sleep on it, to make sure I really want to do it. They're really worried that I won't have that much fun in my own. I supposed I'm a bit worried too; mostly about the Paris day. I've never been before and am rubbish at French.

surely tho - the trip is an organised one to a point, and they drop u at a point n then collect u?? so not technically alone.....

least, thats how the one i did was, but we r talkin *coughs* many yrs ago lol

u might hook up with others on the trip (we did on ours) and its a way to make friends..... BUT i can also imagine how daunting it might be....

not sure the best advice really, but thinking hard on it is good..... and maybe ask around, maybe sum1 might come with u????

hope u can make it :goodvibes

No you're right, I won't technically be alone. Chatting to other people on the coach was one of my 'persuasion points', but on the other side I wouldn't want to muscle in on another groups trip. Yeah, I'm planning to ask around a bit more, never know, someone might surprise me! Thanks

ill keep everything crossed for u!!! am sure sumthing/sum1 will come up and ull be sorted!!!

Ok, so I slept on it and decided *drum roll* That I WILL be going! It is most definitely a solo trip, though of course if any of my friends decide that they do have the money/time, then of course I will not object :rotfl: so yay! Look out for my pre trippy pixiedust:
