This is very interesting. The poll results show that more people would choose the Poly with the MK view. But at the same time, all of the written comments are for the Contemporary.

I have a theory. I think the Contemporary has a strong following of people. While I've hear some so-so things about the inside and whatnot, I think the view blows people away and therefore gets people talking more. That's just my theory, though. There should be a contemporary club.

I have to admit...I'm personally really interested to see the newly designed room. Not that my small children would care. That's just something I'm interested in. :)

I could have written this post myself! We are going bt Poly and CR. We have 2 boys - will be 21 months and 4.5 when we go.

Ok - so would you people go with a Poly GARDEN VIEW or CR GARDEN VIEW?

I personally think the garden view rooms at the Poly are much better. The CR garden view just seem a little motel-ish to me.

the monrail has to stop at both Polyn and GF - it can sit at GF for easily the 5 minutes it takes you to walk to the MK.

True, but the boat from the Polynesian goes directly to the MK and is normally faster than the monorail.

I'm so glad someone posted this question. We are going in Dec. & booked at the Poly, but my gut is telling me Contemporary. The rooms seem cleaner and brighter inside. Last visit was Oct. 2004, we stayed at the BC. Weather was great, but only used SAB 2-3 times over the 8 day stay and the hot tub/spa was a big draw for me. Only problem I have is two other families are going at the same time and they booked Poly.

I find the rooms at the Contemporary too "loud." I much prefer the deep, rich colors of the rooms at the Polynesian. That's just me though.

It's interesting though that the Polynesian as the largest number of repeat visitors of any resort at WDW, with the exception of FW campground.

You've chosen 2 wonderful resorts. I believe that the rooms have been redone in both resorts in the last year or so. There are pictures of the interiors of both resort rooms floating around somewhere on these boards. I remember seeing them. You would have the incredible front seat view from the CR; at the Poly you have a more distant view. Fireworks from the CR are wonderful. If your kids are going to be using the pool, the Poly pool is much nicer than the CR. If I recall, the CR pool just sits next to the lake and I don't think there are any trees around it. I remember walking past it and thinking how uninviting it seemed. Both resorts are nicely themed as to what they represent. CR might offer a little more variety foodwise, if you are planning alot of meals in your resort. I'd toss a coin. Go to one this trip and the other on your return trip to the World.

Don't forget they are building the new Contemporary villas at this time so that might be a consideration. For me it would be because of the amount of money you are spending to be in a construction sight. By the way last time we were down in June '07 the bus situtation was horrible for both the POLY and CR. But if you are just going to the Magic kingdom you will be fine. have a great trip

Alright, here is another 2 cents worth. I voted for the Poly because: Pool (even in the cooler months), resort feel, beach, movies at night on the beach, etc. We did stay in the CR Tower Magic Kingdom view in January. Nice view of the parking lot, lights, etc at MK...didn't like the bird droppings on the balcony. Did like the quick walk over to MK...but my kids are older and love to ride the monorail pirate: .

I have stayed at both several times over the years with my kids at different ages. I think the age of your kids is the key factor in your selection.

Contemporary is cool and so convenient, but at the end of the day, when they're so tired and cranky, you don't want to subject them to further walking. Plus, the kids will never get tired of riding the monorail or taking the boat - both are transporation options for Contemporary and Polynesian.

The Contemporary has one of the better video game rooms, but that applies to older kids. The pool is nothing special. Overall, you will feel like you are in a sort of normal convention hotel.

The Polynesian is lush, gorgeous; so much atmosphere that you will swear you are in Hawaii/Polynesia. My kids rate the Polynesian's pool as one of the best at Disney; cool volcano slide and right on the beach of the Seven Seas lagoon. You and your husband will also appreciate the uber-romantic atmosphere at the Polynesian

8:) Mouse ears!

I chose the CR. The tower room view can not be beat!! The time we stayed at the Poly was good, but our view was a palm tree!! with the mono occasionally wooshing by!! The boys loved it, but I would rather see the castle.Of course it is so nice to sit on the balconey, watch the fireworks in your pjs and not fight the crowd back home at night!!!

Also, we didn't get any perks or adv. at the poly that we didn't get at the CR and the CR was cheaper. You can always go over there to shop and eat, but for us the CR is nicer.

I didn't vote because I don't think you could go wrong either way. For personal preference, I like the theming at Poly, but from a practical/logistics perspective...you can't go wrong with either. :earsboy:
