I found an ipod at work several months ago. No one has come forward to claim it. I tried to look on it to see if there was any identifying information, but the thing is dead. I don't own an ipod so I don't have a charger or any idea what kind of charger the thing uses. I'd like to check to see if I can figure out who it belongs to (but if no claims it, I guess it's mine.) What do I need to get to charge the thing?

Do you have a Mac Store somewhere close to you? They would be the best at identifying what kind of charger that specific iPod needs, and they would also probably be willing to charge it up without you having to purchase the chord. They may also have the registration number on file for the owner. If you do want to just purchase the chord, then you can probably go to a Best Buy or something, but you'll have to know the model and type of charger it requires - most are the same, but some of the shuffles and nanos are different then the normal plug. Good luck!

A serial number should be on the back of it. Call up apple and give them the serial number so that they can find out who it belongs to.

Thanks for the info. See I know NOTHING about ipods so I had no idea they could look up a serial number. Is it on the outside or the inside somewhere?

My serial number is on the back in VERY TINY print.

It is just below where it says 30GB.

Is there a case on the iPod? You might have to take off the case first to see it. (My case is clear so I can see straight through it.)
