Hi, I'm new here on the DIS but not to Disney, we go to WDW every year and I've been to DL once and absolutely adored it. I found out we'd be going to DLP a couple of months ago, it seemed ages away at the time so I concentrated on planning other things we will be doing in Europe. Suddenly its less than 2 months away and all I have planned is the hotel (Neport Bay for 3 nights and DLH for 1) . Where do we eat? What rides should we go on? Is there a good guidebook I can buy? What should I expect in general? I am totally confused. I'm sorry if the answers to these questions are in another thread, but I'm freaking out! :confused3

As opposed to WDW, DLP doesn't require planning. Of course, you need your hotel room, but that's about it.

How many days/ nights are you going?

When you stay at at Disney-hotel, you can have your breakfast (included in the price) in a restaurant in DLP. This is something you better request up front, because there is a limited number of people that can go to the Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast. Basically, you enter the pak an hour before it opens, you can take the train or walk to Fantasyland (you should walk, because of the opportunity to take great pictures, + Main Street is so different when it's empty!) and there you have breakfast (same as in the hotel). Also, you can go on some of the Fantasyland rides before the park opens to the general public (less waiting in line). I love doing this, some people think it's a waste of time. There are NO characters at breakfast.

If you want a character breakfast, you also better book this in advance. There is an additional charge involved (don't know by heart how much, think around 17 EUR or so for adults) and you can have your breakfast at Cafe Mickey or (I think) at the Plaza Restaurant. I have done the breakfast a couple of times as Cafe Mickey, and I loved it, but it's rather pricey.

For your other meals: there is CS and TS, I'm sure someone here will bring up the link with the menus. For TS, what we usually do is going to City Hall somewhere during the day, and making a reservation for dinner. This has never been a problem. Even when you turn up just like that at a restaurant, the wait has never been too bad for us (with the exception of Rainforest Cafe)
There is the dinner show Buffalo Bill, I have never been to that one, but if you're interested, someone will help you with that.

Attraction-wise: I have never bought a guidebook for DLP. There are some great sites on the web, and in the end, the parks aren't THAT big that you really need to plan everything out in order to get some rides done. The only thing you have to keep in mind when cruising through the parks, are the schedules of some shows, like the Lion King or the car stunt show.

Hi here is a link.

www.dlpfoodguide.com

Where you choose to eat will depend on what food you like and your budget, There is loads to choose from in the park, Village and Hotels.

Thank you so much :cheer2: , I had no idea about the Fantasyland breakfast and food planning is especially important to my family (1 vegetarian + 2 atkins dieters + 1 meat and potatoes only = never deciding on a restaurant).

Hi marbleso and welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

One of the things I love most about DLRP is the dragon under our castle, don't miss him! :)

These DLRP sites are very good here, here, and here.

Oh my goodness--are we in the same family? I'm a vegetarian, my dh is on atkins, our ds and dd could live on macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets, and we're going to POFQ next month. And I'm here because my dh just sprung it on me that he'd like to go to DLP for his birthday next March. Not sure we'll actually be able to make that happen, but any excuse to spend more time on the DIS!

DLP is the best "Magic Kingdom" park--Your in for a real treat!!
I equate it to being a "hybrid" version of Florida and Californias,
The detailing and the money Disney spent on this park shows.
All the lands are incredible and quite different. We did not have a problem with language/signage as most of Europe is bilingual. DLP is really another kind of Disney experience. we also ventured into Paris on the RER which is easy to use--glad we didn't use Disney's excursion bus at $100 plus to venture in on. We found the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elyse'es (Disney store) using the RER map it. The day pass cost $12 per person to ride the RER.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the DLP board :wave2: Just ask away if you have any questions.

oooooh, guidebook! I love guidebooks, I've been known to just buy ones about remote places I'll probably never visit for no reason. I'm really syched about the castle at DLP (Is it really Belle's castle? she's my favorite character).

Now on some side notes

I am totally loving the DIS already, though my family is getting sick of hearing "well the DISers think that this is good" or "I heard on the DIS that was bad". :teeth:

thunderbird1, I too am the vegetarian in my family. Don't you hate the endless debating (Steakhouse! Pasta!)?

"How about this place?" "There's nothing I can eat there! How about this place?" "There's nothing I can eat there!" And on, and on, and on.

Thanks for the warm welcome Cyrano! It's probably not going to happen for us (at least not next year--it's hard to justify $800 plane tickets), but someday . . . .

Sorry to disappoint you, it's Sleeping Beauty's Castle but it is so beautiful that I'm sure you won't mind. ;) LOL
Check out the gallery upstairs, there are some very beautiful stained glass windows up there.

Welcome to the DIS - isn't this place great?

I was at DLP in April for 1 night and a day and a half and we finished it in exactly that amount of time. So you'll have a relaxing stay for 3 nights! Here are the rides I enjoyed: Indiana Jones (fantastic!), Casey Jr. Circus Trains and the Storybook Cruise (so little kid-ish but mom and i loved them!), Phantom Manor (of course), the Cinemagique show at the Studios, Enchanted Passage of Aladdin (just a little walk through area but Aladdin's one of my favorites so i thought it was really cute!), Alice's Curious Labyrinth, . I even enjoyed Small World which I usually hate - the outside of the building was just gorgeous and the ride was so pleasant! The pirate ship play area looked so cute, wish i was a little kid so i could play around there. I thought that the Rockin Roller Coaster at the Studios was even better than the one in Florida. Space Mountain 2 is soooo different from regular Space Mountain and I probably would've enjoyed it if i didn't have a sinus infection at the time (the pressure in my head was just awful during this ride I wanted to scream in pain, but i'm sure it's much better and way cool without the sinus infection).

We also stayed at the Newport Bay Club. It was pretty but wasn't up to snuff with the quality of Disney World Florida hotels. But it was enjoyable nonetheless. The breakfast buffet was really good and an added bonus - we didn't know about that before we checked in.

Hope this helps! Happy planning!

We went to DLP years ago. I was a little strange hearing things in french of course and the characters that you take you pictures with were how do I say it a little firsky, aggressive with me (an adult) maybe they were messing with me since I was american. The wolf even made sound effects under the mask.
I knew I wasn't in USA that's for sure but it was a fun experience. Have a great time.

Belle's castle can be seen from Casey Jr and the Storybook boats. It's so pretty!!!
