Just received an email from allegiant air (flying out of ABE/LVIA) stating that they changed our non-stop flight at 8am to 7:25pm! I don't want to lose a day in Disney that was the whole point in booking a morning flight. Anyway, they did have an email address to respond to if it would not work. Of course, I stated that it wouldn't work.

Has this ever happen to you with allegiant and if so, were they able to get you back to the earlier flight? Any other ideas or suggestions, please share!

Allegiant generally only flies once per day (at most) to Orlando from any of their locations. This is the new time. You can either fly then, possibly fly the night before (so adding a hotel room night, but still having that day in Florida), or ask for a refund and book with someone else.

If that is the only flight of the day, Brian Noble is correct. You options are severly limited.

I'd go with the "fly out the next day" option. You can probably find a cheap hotel room near MCO.

Go to the website and find out if your original flight is still on the schedule. You may have a shot if your flight was changed because your original flight was overbooked but your only recourse is to request a refund if your original flight is no longer on the schedule.

That's the risk of booking with small carriers, out of small airports. The only way carriers like Allegiant have a shot of surviving is if they adjust their schedule to decrease the number of flights on routes that only sell with deeply discounted (unprofitable) fares.

Yup, that is the case... they generally have just the one flight per day, 7:25 PM. You can probably get a full refund and start from scratch.

It happened to me. I had to rearrange my flight plans recently for a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale. Originally I was scheduled to fly from home airport (PIA) to FLL. But Allegiant decided to stop service from PIA to FLL after May 31 (my trip is in July). Service to FLL from surrounding airports also were discontinued. After checking prices on other airlines I couldn't come close to the $445 I originally paid to Allegiant for 3 people. Therefore I opted for them to re-route my trip leaving out of Rockford to Sanford and returning from Sanford to Peoria for the same price. I could have went from Peoria to Sanford but I didn't want to leave/arrive so late. I have to rent a car for a 3 hour drive to/from FLL but it still came out a lot cheaper than going through another airline.

bouldertcr--We too had our flight from ABE changed on May 19th to the evening. I called allegiant directly and spoke to a very nice agent. I explained to her that our family would be losing a good deal of money because of this change and what could she do to help without paying any penalties. We are now going on the 18th in the evening. The good thing, no penalties were incurred. Meaning we do not have to pay the $50 segment change.:cool1: The downfall, we now leave out of Allentown @ 8:25 pm arriiving in Sanford @ 10:55 pm:mad: The rental car companies close @ 11. Instead of driving to Disney at that time of night, we are staying @ a Holiday Inn Express less than 2 miles from the Airport. We will take a taxi there and the hotel shuttle back on Monday to retrieve the car. I was told that ABE/LVIA will be keeping these times for approx 4 months.:scared1: This is such a shame for people who have little children.::scared:

I was going to book out of ABE also.. I noticed that when I was finally ready to book.. the flight times changed to the night flight. I would have booked the day before with no problem, but ran into the rental car problem...
Please CHECK your rental car company directly. National closes at 10:30.. not 11. At first the site wouldn't even let me book it, saying it would be closed (I had put in 11:00pm)... when I checked, I found it closed at 10:30. I called directly to check also, and they confirmed it. I asked what would happen if my flight was delayed (since landing at 9:55 in Sanford, it IS possible to make the rental by 10:30 because it's such a small airport).. and the csr said I could get the car in the morning! :scared1: Ummm.. and what would I do till morning? Take a taxi, rent a hotel for the night, and a taxi back? So, I'm flying out of PHI. It was cheaper airfare too.. but it's 1.5 hours from me, whereas ABE is about 35 minutes from me.

Just be sure to check. It would be terrible if you got to your car rental place, and it was closed.

I've flown out of ABE 4 times, 2 of those times the flight was late. Once by 5 hours! , and the other time by 45 minutes. Love the airline though. Great planes and the customer service is great!

Ok, here's an update. I called allegiant this evening and was able to make a change in the day we are flying out at no extra cost (at least in airfare). Since 7:25pm is currently the only flight time available out of LVIA (ABE) to SFB, I booked that time the night before our original date of arrival. I was glad not to incur an additional airfare charge. Now, to decide whether to add another night to our existing stay (AKL) or stay near Sanford airport or off disney property. Ahh, decisions. Thanks everyone for guidance and support. And keep your fingers crossed that they don't make another change or go belly up.

and times..8/23
we were flying in at the 10pm time originally and staying at some cheapo hotel in sanford for 40 bucks i got off priceline any way....
I wouldn't worry bout the cars rental they have an agreement to stay open untill the last flight comes in ..

that's what they told me last time my flight was 10 hours late and the poor Dollar guy said yeah we were waiting for you guys.....

If that's true I could scream!! Why didn't they tell me that when I called?!! I would have really REALLY preferred allegiant to airtran.... Allentown to Philly! Geezzz. Too late now, I've booked my flights. And of course I book then a week later I get an Airtran coupon for $25 off..lol. Bleh.

Thank you for letting me know this. I will confirm it, and remember it for next time.

One small consolation... at least MCO is closer to Disney than Sanford.

The man from Alamo told me they are closed come 11pm. They do not stay open for late flights. He more or less said you are out of luck and come back on Monday. Hopefully taxi's will be sitting outside to take us to the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel shuttle finishes at 9 pm sp that is out.:scared1:
