Help AKL Questions

My family is going to DW in AUg and DH and I will be down there one day before the ds's. DH wants to stay at AKL. I was going to call about reservations but dsis just emailed me. She has some DVC points left and she wants to get us a room at AKL.

Please explain the what concierge level is so that I can explain it to dh. Dsis has offered to get us Savannah view or concierge level. We will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary so it is a special trip. Not to mention ds1 is graduating colllege and ds2 is graduating high school.

concierge is the upper level - it includes free food - and the sunrise savannah(extra fee) - that only concierge guest can do.

Whether you can even get Animal Kingdon Villas concierge for Aug is questionable -- DVC has only 10 total rooms (5 1BR, 5 studios, which can instead be 2BR units) that are concierge level and those tend to book up completely early.

Concierge mainly means:

1, You have a concierge lounge you can use for continental breakfast and finger foods/snacks and drinks later in the day and evening (most things, other than drinks, don't cost anything as it is incuded in concierge level).

2. You get to check in concierge, which means going where there is no line.

3. You have access to concierge CMs that you can just call (and get no wait) that will make reservations for you, advise on WDW, even go buy something for you in the store.

4. At AKV, you have access (for an additional fee) to the sunrise savanna tour open only to concierge guests and you get a tour of the AK savanna. However, that only happens a couple days a week so you need to be there when it does.

5. Your room is on 6th floor (top floor of AKL) on which floor there is only concierge rooms and they are above the lobby. You have daily maid and daily turndown (in the evening) service.

6. Just note that having a concierge room does not assure having a savanna view as four (2 1BR and 2 studios, which can also be just 2 2BRs) of the ten rooms overlook the pool area.

Whilst agreeing with most everything else in your post I do have to say that this paragraph reflects the theory of the concierge level experience... in practice I found AKL concierge planning CMs very difficult to get hold of, usually getting dumped to a voicemail assuring me that my call was very important to them, then waiting 48 hours or more for a return call.

I ended up making most of my reservations on WDW-DINE like everyone else
