Help-Adding Photos to Autograph Book

Hello everyone. I am attempting to make my first autograph books for my two girls in anticipation of our trip the first week of October to WDW.

In the past, we have used the Disney books which have a slot to insert a picture opposite the autograph. However, I really want to make my own, personalized book for them this year, but still would like to be able to add pictures after the trip if possible.

I thought about using pictures of their previous interactions, but decided against it as I really like some of the great designs you fantastic folks here at DIS have come up with. And I also really like the idea of being able to insert a picture of my girl's interaction with the character at the time she got the actual autograph. That way they can look at the book as a remembrance of the particular trip.

I have searched high and low and cannot find any information about anyone doing this with their books. I am planning on making a 8x8 book through Picaboo. I was considering making every other page a generic autograph page with a simple design. The idea would be to attach the photos after we return home to the generic pages opposite the character's autograph (I hope I explained that correctly).

The problem I am anticipating is two-fold:

1.) How to attach the photos. I thought about trying to find some adhesive photo pockets. I cold attach them to the page and then slide the photo in. Has anyone else done this? I also haven't had any luck finding said adhesive photo pockets.

2.) Will the weight of the photos (no more than two per one side of a page) be too much for the photo book pages (they use 100-lb stock)?

Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to figure out how to have the best of both worlds - custom autograph book with pictures.

I have made our autograph book for our last couple of trips. What I have done is make a 4x6 book and had it bound on the top. On the bottom page is where the characters will sign. On the top page I left room for a small pic and when we got home we decorated with stickers and stuff from our trip. Kinda like a mini scrapbook.

On the top page I left room for a small pic and when we got home we decorated with stickers and stuff from our trip. Kinda like a mini scrapbook.

I cut out 4x6 pages using card stock and had them bound at staples ($5, I think-I made 3). I attached the picture using a glue stick or scrapbook adhesive.(You can find this at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby type place) Also added stickers and borders. I can not find the finished one but I can put a pic of the ones I just made for our upcoming trip, if you want.

If you want to just glue the picture on make sure to buy the glue from a scrapbooking place or make sure it is acid free so you don't destroy the photos. If it was me I'd use a tape runner from a scrapbooking store. The tape should be safe for your photos and I've found it to hold photos to paper or cardstock very well. It is also neat and easy to use. You don't even need to precut the pieces. Another option would be photo corners. I know they cone in clear as well as black and white. This would allow you to remove the photos if desired. I personally don't love these simply because they are a bit of a pain to use in my onion. They are small and I have clumsy fingers. I wouldn't worry about the weight of the photos considering how many photos and embellishments people but on cardstock when scrapbooking. I wish you lots of luck!

Thanks for the ideas! I never considered a tape runner. Is that essentially two sided tape?

I have never been a big fan of photo corners either. As I mentioned, I was hoping to find some lightweight individual photo pockets with adhesive backs. However, I have not been able to find any yet!

Yes, a tape runner is like double sided tape. It is made up of hundreds of already perforated tiny rectangles so you run it along the surface of the item then you lift up rather than cutting it. You then just lay to item on top of the tape and press. I think it's easy and fun to use.
