I need help from the experts (and I don't mean that in a suck-up Eddie Haskell sort of way...):

I contacted my guide last week regarding adding on points at Bay Lake Tower before the price increase. I haven't received the paperwork yet but deposit has been made and wheels are in motion.

In the meantime I am discussing this with a friend at work that recently cruised DCL. She attended the DVC presentation and tells me that add ons at BLT are between 97-99 per point on the cruise. Here's the kicker, I am sailing the Magic starting 10/31 and would love to get that price for my BLT add on (currently paying 107 per point).

Well here's the problem. Our cruise leaves 10/31, and BLT prices are set to go up on 11/1. Would we be able to do an add on on the first night of the cruise? Are the prices for BLT add ons still this good on the Magic? I left a message for my guide to see if she had any advice, but she hasn't called back yet.

Part of me wants to risk it and wait...I realize the price per point is going up on the first, but I have a feeling the incentives will improve then as well. Another part of me doesn't want the hassle of getting my deposit back and canceling the current contract just to re-write one on the Magic.

Please advise

If you have only just started the process (and still waiting on the paperwork), there is a good chance that you won't have closed on those points until you are on the cruise.

I would just tell your guide that you want to take your time in getting the paperwork back because of the cruise. Disney is pretty good about allowing for the delays. When I added on in June, I didn't want to have to pay the balance on the contract for a month (so I could make the next statement on my Disney Visa) and they had no problem with this. Of course, delaying final payment for a month meant that the contract could not close until after I paid for it. So, I started the process on June 1st and didn't actually close until July 7th.

I think that you can work it so that you keep what you have and if the cruise incentives are better, get the contracts re-written to take advantage of the new price.

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Hopefully my guide will call back tommorow. I just got the paperwork this evening, so maybe if I sit on it for a few days all will become clear:lmao:.

Lets see... You want your Guide to call you back about you buying while on a cruise that will cause her to split her commission. I suspect that she will forget to call you back. :goodvibes

Hmmmm, I was a bit worried this might cause her to lose some of her commission. If that is the case I suspect you are right:thumbsup2. But you can't really blame a gal for trying to save a few bucks:teacher:.

It's not like you took a tour, taking up several hours of your guide's time, and then decided to add-on on the cruise. My guess is that your guide has spent about a half hour at most on your add-on at this point. If your guide doesn't return your call for that reason, that is bad business. He/she runs the risk of you switching guides and then there will be zero commission for future add-ons.

Also an excellent point.

My guide did call back this morning. She told me that the price for BLT on DCL is the same as I am getting through her (112pp less $5pp for a total of $107). I told her I am going to be very upset if that is not the case when I cruise.

I think I just might sit on the paperwork for a week before sending it back and hope we don't close before the 31st.

This would all be so much easier if Disney just had one offer out there for everybody...not special incentives on DCL, webcasts, Doorway to Dreams etc. It seems kind of foolish to make a prospective buyer jump through hoops to get a price you give another buyer. I'll never understand marketing people I guess.

I complained to Disney a couple of years ago about their DVC pricing policies and the answer that I was given is that each sales group has their own budget and policies. DTD, Telesales, Preview Center, and DCL each offer a different deal. When I stated that it really isn't fair for the prospective buyer, I was told that "that's just the way it is".

This should have been my first clue regarding Member Satisfaction. :sad2:

Do not sign and return your paperwork until after your cruise. If you get a better deal on the cruise then go for it and cancel your initial reqeust.
