Help a new Platinum member ........

Last time we stayed at HRH we were blue status, after returning home we received our platinum status in the mail. I am looking into booking our trip for November 2008. If I go with the standard room, will I automatically be bumped up to a better room? Do they ever bump you up to club level? I'm just looking at my options to see what is the best deal I can get for my platinum status. Currently we are looking at:

STANDARD ROOM 2 QUEEN BEDS - $1120.00
CLUB ROOM 2 QUEEN BEDS $1645.00

Any suggestions? There will be 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children under 10.

You will be bumped to a suite if one is available. It is rare to be bumped to club level. I would suggest the suites as Portofino since you can get them with two queens and a pullout. The suites at the other two hotels just have a king and a pullout. The portofino suites also have two baths which makes a huge difference.

when you are platinum, make the request for the free upgrade when you book.

don't wait until you get to the hotel to inquire about platinum perks of free upgrade. they might not be one available if you wait til then.

Book now for the suite upgrade at time of booking or roll the dice and wait to see what the new lf program will be like.

I thought I read a cheat sheet post on this board that if you have 4 people you can't get a suite upgrade at Hard Rock or Royal? Their King Suites are the plat upgrade and they only have an occupancy max of 3? Was that post wrong?

Something like 950 square feet! 2 bathrooms as well..That seems huge! A nice perk!

Anyone stayed as Platintimum member? I think it is 2 queens in both rooms correct? : Upgrade to suite is a nominal difference I believe..seems well worth the "bang for the buck"! Anyone stayed in one? Thx.

We have stayed in several Portofino suites - they are large. You can get the bedroom with two queens or one king. The bedroom is attached to a parlor with a pull-out sleeper sofa. There are two large bathrooms.

Wow that suite is huge! I know DH loves the Hard Rock, so do the kids, maybe I will have to do some convincing for Portofino.

If not I guess we will just go with the club suite again.

it wasn't a cheat sheet but the listing from the HRH site.

the king suites have a maximum limit of 3 people.

you have one king bed and a pull out sofa for 1.

the limit is based on the fire codes for the hotel.
you can get a queen deluxe that will sleep 5 if you need more space.
it would work for 4 people in your case.

no, the upgrade for platinum at hrh is the king suite.

at times i have taken the queen deluxe if at reservation booking time, a king suite was not available.

it would have to be worked out with the ressie clerk you deal with.
call loews to book and see how they can help you.

the loews first program will change in the fall for new bookings.
if you book now before july 1st, you could be grandfathered in the old program.

The upgrade to a suite as a platinum member is not nominal - it's 0 if a Portofino Suite is available when booking. We were supposed to have a Portofino Suite on our stay last year but were upgraded again when checking in to a Hospitality Suite where the parlor alone is almost 1000 sq. ft. so when you add in the bedroom, you are over 1400 sq. ft.!
