Help a crazed room mother out...

I need some ideas for outdoor games for the End of the Year party for 1st graders. Nothing messy or wet. This time of year I'm fresh out of ideas. Anybody?

wheel barrow races
freeze tag (or any version of tag)
duck duck goose
hula hooping
set up an obstical course
fruit basket
hop scotch
Mother may I
just about any classic old playground game is great fun to taht age--and many are "new" to the kids

When dd's were younger I ran field day at our school 5 years in a row anyway I don't like the normal things....kids get bored year after year with the same old same old soooooo... we got inventive. This was a big hit with the k and 1st grades.

Game: MOUSE HUNT
what you need: light weight rope, velcro, colored tape, whistle
what you do: cut the rope long enough to be tied around each childs waist like a belt. Cut "tails" long enough to drape from the waist with about 1 foot resting on the ground. attach the tail to the belt. Each tail should be marked with colored tape (or paint)
How to play: Blow the whistle the kids need to run around and step on the opposing teams tails which will come off. The last team with at least one tail intact wins. You can revamp it to suit you needs. HTH

I don't know if this would work if some of the girls have dresses, but this time of year, they may all be in shorts.

I went to a birthday party with my 8 year old son at an indoor gym. They played a different game of tag that they seemed to enjoy. Several people were "it." They had a piece of foam that they threw at someone. If the person was hit, then they had to freeze. The only way to get unfroze was for someone else who hadn't been tagged to come and crawl through their legs.
