Good morning everyone,

Last night, I posted on my FB wall about SWGE. My youngest chimed in and says can't wait (meaning we're hoping to go in 2021) and then my mom chimes in and mentions that this would be a great idea for her and dad's 50th wedding anniversary. I quickly called her (so she wouldn't change her mind.. lol) and she's dead serious. Even dad wants to go and he hates to travel so this completely impressed me as they live in Seattle.

Their 50th is this year but I was able to talk them out of going this year as it will be a madhouse there and I need time to plan it out (ADR's, FP's, etc). They are on board for next year sometime in September/October time frame. This will give me, my boys and my DIL time to pay for our portion.

It will be 6 adults- My folks who are in their 70's, my adult sons, DIL and myself. My DIL is in a wheelchair so we need a handicap accessible room. I would rather keep the costs down so reserving more than 2 rooms is out. My question is this, would it be better to stay say at a moderate resort with 2 rooms or just rent DVC with 2 bedrooms? Do they even offer accessible rooms for DVC?

My folks want to stay on property so offsite isn't an option and to tell you the truth, I want to stay onsite as well as we don't get to DW often. This very well may be the last time that my folks go to DW. My folks haven't been since 1997 and we haven't had a full family vacation ever so making this the most magical vacation is my top priority.

Any assistance would be so helpful! I went from a solo trip next year to planning a 6 adult vacation for family members in different towns/states. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed this morning.

HELP!!

3 Value units may be cheaper than a DVC rental of a 2BR.

DVC has accessible units. They are a booking category. However, to have everyone in real beds you'd need a 2BR Dedicated HA. You'd also need everyone to understand that DVC rental is a final transaction and they CANNOT BACK OUT.

Yes, they offer accessible rooms for DVC. If you rent DVC, you can get a laundry room, full kitchen and dining room (assuming you want to cut down costs on food). But, be aware that if you rent DVC, you would have to pay in full in advance and you're usually locked into the dates UNLESS you book a cash reservation through Disney. Also, you would not have "real" beds for at least two of your family members (sofa bed) unless you book at OKW.

You would probably want to look at the EPCOT resorts for booking DVC (if that's the route you go) so either Beach Club or Boardwalk Villas.

I agree with PP, you may want to look into three value rooms at that rate. One for your parents, one for your son & DIL. One for you & other son.

Dedicated 2 Bedrooms will have 3 real beds. You are referring to lockoff 2 bedrooms that consist of a studio (1 bed and 1 sleeper sofa at all but OKW) and a 1 bedroom. So for the Epcot resorts BCV has dedicated 2 Bedrooms however BWV has only lockoffs.

If you book a 2 bedroom villa through Disney you won’t have to pay in full until you arrive and have the flexibility to cancel 5 days before. It will just be more expensive. When I booked a 2 bedroom villa through cash you couldn’t pick dedicated or not, but was told it was a guarantee for cash to get dedicated. Not sure if that’s true or not but we did.

Your cheapest route would probably be three bedrooms at a value resort, which could give everyone some space and privacy. I’d play around with the bookings to see which option gives you the best deal

If you book a dedicated HA 2 bedroom at either AKV Kidani or at BLT, you will get 3 full bathrooms, along with the full kitchen and washer/dryer. 2 queen beds in second bedroom and a king bed in the master. There is also a pullout sofa and a pullout chair in the living room.

I'll throw in a totally different suggestion. How about booking a deluxe BWI CL room? They sleep 6 and include all the perks of the club level including food and drinks. If you request the rooms on the third floor you will also have a nice sized balcony to enjoy. I think the price would be very reasonable for three couples compared to the DVC costs. The room make up is two queen beds and then a living room with a second TV and a couch that pulls out to a Queen sized bed, and a comfy chair. We have used it for an adult trip and just loved it. The pull out was very large and comfy and you have the extra room of the balcony and the whole lounge area to use. It also guarantees you a water view room looking over towards the yacht and Beach club. Just thought you might like another option.

Get a 2BR Villa renting DVC points. There are several places, DVC rental store being on of them that allows you to pay a deposit and the rest 45 days prior to arrival. The amount you pay will be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than booking with Disney. You'll have all those bathrooms, washer/dryer, kitchen and space to spread out. Not to mention being at a Deluxe resort.

Thank you so very much for all of your suggestions! I will relay this onto my family. Good thing we have a bit to decide but I told them to not take TOO long to figure it out :)

What about a treehouse villa in Saratoga springs?
Three bedrooms (but one is bunk beds)
Kitchen
Living room

The big con would be having to take an internal bus to get to the main hall for the buses to parks

We booked 2 rooms at POP for this August. It was waaaaayyyy cheaper than booking DVC 2 bedroom. Even a one bedroom with the kids sleeping on the couch and chair. And I really didn't want to do that to them. The cost alone for just the room was more expensive than our entire trip for the 2 rooms. That is including park tickets, hopper, water park, upgrading one room to regular dining plan (we did get the qs for free) and the second room upgrading to deluxe.

The bunks are shorties, though. I would not recommend putting adults in them unless they are adults you secretly hate, or they are short adults.

I would do two rooms at a value, if you are trying to keep the cost down. I think even renting points for a 2-BR DVC is going to be out of the ballpark, and come with the usual restrictions of renting. You can price some options out to get an idea of costs, it can be shocking. Happy planning!

Two rooms at a value. Even three rooms at a value. Both options will be way cheaper than a 2 BR even if you rent points. Also a two bedroom only has 3 real beds. IMO adults need real sleeping surfaces. Sofa beds and sleeper chairs are not my idea of comfort.

I’d agree to get 3 value rooms. You can get one HA room with a roll in shower, then 2 regular ones. It would likely be less than renting DVC points, and give everyone some space.
