Help, 2 membership numbers - a bit frustrated!

When I called MS today to transfer, bank and make a ressie with the new contract she told me 2 important things 1) any transferred points in will be the 1st to be used for a ressie (I needed 127 of the 130 points) and 2) She suggested I transfer the 127 I needed then she would do another transfer for the 3 points. I questioned her and she said since both contracts are in MY name I can do several transfers between contracts in a UY. However I can only do 1 transfer per UY for any membership that I do not own. She actually said in my case it is the exception to the rule, since I own both contracts, interesting. She did both transfers. I am not going to count on this as being a given but this CM was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions thoroughly.

Many years ago when the rule was one tansfer per use year, MS always allowed the exception you mention -- it would allow unlimited transfers between contracts of the same owner. If they have now ressurected that policy, it would be a good thing.

You were pretty darn lucky. I've had the CM tell me when I transferred part of my smaller contract to the larger contract that I wouldn't be able to do another transfer this UY. And more than once.

I had to use both of my OKW contracts to get my GV for this June. I had to be very specific because I knew I was going to have two separate reservations (one for six nights with the larger contract) and one for one night with the smaller one because I had to borrow from my Dec 2011 UY contract into my Dec 2010 UY contract and I knew I couldn't borrow transferred points. Even so the CM did mess it up and had to undo it all which they did without a problem. I'd spent several hours working it out exactly what specific number of points had to be tranferred and which had to be borrowed to get it to work out.

I think what I am hearing from everyone is that you basically are at the mercy of whomever answers the phone at Member Services... hopefully you get someone who knows what they are doing! Thank Goodness for these boards so I can run things by you guys. Makes you kinda wonder about those who are not on these boards, i.e. wonder how many mistakes are made? :confused3

Buckeye Fan - Thanks for your insight. You have answered 2 questions for me now on 2 different threads and I really appreciate it. Although my brain is starting to burn with all this thinking!!!

Don't feel bad. We have been members for two years now and i still can't figure out the banking, transferring and so on... Luckily, each time we call we get somebody that is *awesome* and they take care of it for us.

We also have two contracts with different UYs (March and April) but same home resort. So we just dump (transfer) the smallest contract into the largest (which is also the earlier UY) and just bank or treat them as one set of March points, banking the March set on time and the April set early.
