We are leaving in one week!!!!! (YEAH!!!) Since we are not only making an eight day trip to WDW but also moving back home from a little over nine months in Venezuela (sent here because of husband's work), we will have 12 suitcases!!!!! Yes, 12!!!! I had wanted to search online about different transportation options available from the Orlando airport to the Disney hotel, but my husband didn't think it was necessary. He plans on us getting to the airport and having no problem finding transportation because he read about Mears when we received the reservation confirmation papers. (They had sent some ad.) Being the planning person that I am, I am now stressing over this. Are there any other options that I should consider and tell him about? It is a week away.
I guess that I should also tell you that there are four in our family so the 12 bags are allowed on the airlines. (3 bags per person) We are OK with size and weight limits. We have checked into shipping all of the extra bags not needed for the WDW trip from Venezuela to Louisiana, but the price is OUTRAGEOUS considering we can do it on the airline for free. My husband doesn't want to rent a van because the driving here in Venezuela is awful and he is ready for a break from driving. He just wants to tip both times (round trip) and have someone else drive. I need suggestions!

Contact a couple towncar services (Tiffany, Your Ride, Happy Limo) and ask if 4 people and 12 suitcases would fit in one of their vans and ask for a price quote. This way, your husband won't have to drive and you won't have to stresss about trying to get Mears to accept 12 suitcases.

calling for van quotes is a good idea. You also check with mears on their luggage limit so you don't have any surprises.

How are you getting from WDW back home? I believe most domestic flights only allow 2 checked bags per person. If you want to check 3 pp they will charge you for the 3rd. I wasn't sure if you have 3 checked pp or 2 checked & a carry on.

I hope it all works out!

I emailed Tiffany a few days ago because we had a similar problem with luggage. There's only 3 of us, but we're going to probably have 2 lg checked and 2 carry-ons each. They said a van would work fine and their rate for a van was much lower than a couple of others I checked on. There's also an $8 online coupon for them. You've got more luggage than we do, but a van may work. I'd email them and ask. They were very prompt answering my emails, every response came within an hour or 2.

Thanks so much for the wonderful information.
Do other companies, besides Tiffany's, have email contact? I don't want to call long distance from Venezuela if I can avoid it.
I will definitely contact any companies that I can by email and find out what they suggest.
We each have two big check-in pieces of luggage and one carry- on piece. Thankfully we are not having to pay for the extra check-in bags.

Don't think Mears will take your 12 pieces of luggage, you should call first. Call Tiffanty Town Car and get a van that way you will be sure. This way also be cheaper and also be sure of no problems.

Thanks so much for all of the helpful information!!! I contacted FL Tours, Tiffany Town Car and Yourride by email. Rabbit from Yourride replied immediately, within about 30 minutes. His rate was better than the other two companies so I went with him. He has been very helpful in the email messages that I have received. He has answered all of my questions. I have read the posts here on this board reporting the good information and service received by Yourride so I am pleased. Thank you all again so much for the help!!!!!!

I'm sorry to rain on your parade..BUT, I hope you are talking about 2 checked bags per person and one carry on..not 3 checked bags.Airlines are getting tough on extra bags nowadays and they charge from $80-$100 per extra piece sometimes even more:( .If you were talking about 3 checked PLEASE call the airline and ask.If you meant 2 checked and 1 carry on,then, by all means ignore me and HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!!;) :Pinkbounc :p :Pinkbounc

At the risk of stating the obvious, also make sure of your transportation from the Louisiana airport. I am picturing a relative picking you up with a compact car.:D

Oh, thanks! Yes, that one made me smile! How funny!
We actually have family coming in a van and another car for us! We will take the van for the luggage and have a back-up car with trunk space just in case it is needed. I expect us to get it all in the van there though.
We can't wait!!!!!!!!

I will second the comment about 2 or 3 bags. On most airlines you are now only allowed 2 suitcases as checked baggage per person. They also have made the size of the suitcase allowed smaller. For each additional suitcase depending on the airline you could pay $40-80 for each one. Then if they are oversize or overweight you would pay that amount of top of the additional fee. I suggest you check with your airline before you are suprised at the airport.

Trust me they are checking this very carefully at the airport. I fly weekly and used to take 3 cases for my business on the flight. Because of these charges I now ship them UPS instead. It is an additional money maker for the airlines.

We have 2 checked bags per person and 1 carry-on per person. We have a family of 4 so that makes our 12 suitcases. We have checked the sizes and weight limits with airlines and we are all fine with those.
