hi, all. i'm new to this board. I recently joined a board called wdwmagic, and it is really nice. thought i'd try my hand at a second board, as well.

you can call me alac :) which is not my real name but it will do the trick!

i'm in my 30s..with a husband...two daughters. typical family of four :)

we live in Canada and we're making the long trek to Orlando in December. this will be my children's first time out of the country. they are SUPER excited. which brings me to my next point...WHY on earth did I tell them about our trip?! lol. it would have been SO fun to hop in the car and say, come on, girls! we're headed to Disney world today!

I've been wondering how to incorporate santa into our visit. you see, my children still believe in santa, and will be happily awaiting presents under the tree on Christmas morning. santa won't be bringing much this year because he's paying for a large Disney trip :)

so I've come up with a plan. sure, there will be a few odds and ends under the Christmas tree. but I've come up with a pretty awesome idea, if I do say so myself. we arrive at our resort bright and early in the morning. we've done the online check in, so i'm really hoping all goes smoothly...

I am going to get my husband to take the kids to explore a teeny bit, while I pop out to the bathroom. now, this is going to be a very long 'bathroom' trip, lol, but my kids totally won't notice how long i'm gone. they'll be so absorbed in what's around them. i'm going to sneak up to our room and decorate it for Christmas. the kids will totally believe that santa paid a visit to our room the night before. they will be beside themselves with excitement. I swear, I feel like a giddy little kid myself! i'm going to leave them each an autograph book, pouches full of quarters for the penny press machines, etc.

then we'll head off to the park where we will get one daughter a happy birthday button (she's celebrating that week) and the other daughter a my first Disney trip button. they will be over the moon at this point.

we have several character meals booked, as well as sparkly hairdos at the harmony barber shop. it has always been a dream of mine to experience Disney world at Christmas...the decorations...the music...the treats...to say i'm ecstatic is an understatement. we are not going to the Christmas party though. it's just an extra expense that we can't afford. we'll make the most of our Christmas cheer regardless. :)

we are staying at pop century and I've been reading some info about changes with fast passes. this had me worried at first...I haven't been to an amusement park before (well, not a big one!) so I don't know what to think in regards to wait times/line ups. i'm not too concerned though because even if we miss some of the rides, the kids will be experiencing so much more. the character meetings, autographs, all those yummy cupcakes. the 60s building! i hear it's loud and obnoxious but we have two loud, obnoxious children of our own so i'm sure we'll fit right in! lol. just kidding. and I can't wait to get my hands on some of the main street bakery treats.

I booked some fastpass+ for what seems to be the major attractions. I don't really know what i'm doing in terms of making an itinerary for how to tackle the parks...but...i'm sure it will all come together in the end.

well, I could ramble on about this for a year, lol, but I suppose i'll stop now before I bore you to tears. I am busily reading trip reports and look forward to posting one of my own. I am trying to weed through the negativity...I've read about several people canceling their trips...i'm sure they have very good reasons for doing so...but it really scares me. we've worked so hard over the years to give this gift to our children. I can't stand the thought of it being an awful experience. :(

off to search the board for useful info. look forward to chatting. :cheer2:

never in my life have I used so many smiley face icons, let alone a cheerleader one :) goes to show how much i'm looking forward to this!
