I've been lurking for a few days and decided this morning to register and introduce myself. My last visit to WDW was 18 years ago! with my DH and DD & DS who were 7 and 5 at the time. Since the birth of my special needs DD15 family vacations have been few and far between. I am SOOOOO excited to finally be able to return and share the magic with my YDD! It has become our evening routine to snuggle down in my bed with the laptop and browse through the posts here. So far we have learned that we must make an appointment for her at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and make a visit to Goofy's candy store! LOL I should note that it was a very last minute decicion to go during spring break (first week of April) so have been forced to book a room outside of the WDW complex as there is nothing available at the value or moderate resorts and we can't afford anything that is available at the deluxe resorts.
I do have a few questions and will try to find the appropriate forums for them but will post here, too.
Are advance reservations for the restaurants open to everyone or only to resort guests?
What about transportation? During our last visit we had to show our resort ID but I've been reading posts that make it sound like anyone can use the tranportation between parks now.
And a question specificaly for those with epilepsy/seizure disorders: Can the fast and/or jarring motions of some of the rides trigger a seizure? I'm really worried about my daughter having a seizure during a ride! She does have an appontment with her neurologist before our trip and I will ask then but I'm wondering what others have experienced.

Hi Happy! Welcome aboard. This is my first post too, this time around. (I was here 5 years ago planning another trip)

I don't have many answers for you, since I have some of the same questions. I was also thinking about the flashing lights (my DD11 has epilepsy too). I know her last EEG showed some spikes with the photic stim, so I will have to check this out with the neuro as well.

I'm pretty sure the 180 days is for everyone, in fact, resort guests get an extra 10 days over the rest of us schlubs. So you should call NOW!

Also, have you looked into getting the special pass that they have available for SN kids? You have to have a note from the doctor (probably the neuro) stating her problem and whatever limitations, etc. Then you show that at guest relations and you get the pass that allows you to wait seperately, be in the shade, have priority boarding, whatever.

Anybody can make advanced reservations. Only Resort guests can take the resort busses but I think the monoralis are for everybody.
