I have been forced out of "lurkdom." For some time now, I have been happily reading all of your posts but today something happened that has forced me to join in on the conversation. I live in a small town in northeastern Washington state. Today we had our house appraised for a refinancing. As I was visiting with the nice man who was looking at my house, he mentions that his wife just returned from Disneyland and that she went without her family. I immediately thought.. no way.. it couldn't be the DIS trip. Well yes it was! His wife is Disney - Supermom. No one close to me truly knows my DIS obsession. All my friends and family know I would spend my last dime on a trip to something Disney, but none of them know how many times a day I refresh the DIS page. It was very nice to visit with him ... I was very happy that my husband wasn't here to put in his opinion of my "illness." So I would like to formally say, Thank you. Thank you for making me feel "normal."

I look forward to joining in on the conversation... :)

party: :welcome: welcome to obsession central!

First of all...Welcome!!!:flower3:

Secondly, isn't it weird how the internet makes the world so small???

party: :welcome:
Just letting you know that :disrocks:
and it is wierd how small the internet really is...I bet that everyone on the DIS will end up knowing someone else from the DIS; and we'll be one big happy family...sort of...:grouphug:

Tracy: welcome! I was on the Dis trip with Disney-Super-Mom and we all had a blast! Maybe by next year you'll be up to joining in with us!

THAT'S ME......THAT WAS MY HUBBY!:yay: :yay: :yay:

That is totally hilarious! What a small world we live in, ya know?!

He called me as soon as he left your house to tell me all about how he met this really nice woman who is a lurker on the DisBoards, and how she knew all about our recent "ladies only trip" from reading about it, and how she knew who Disney-super-mom was!!!!

You, my dear, sweet elliefusmom, are NOT alone in this "illness"! WELCOME to the DISNEY DARK SIDE! Mmwhahahahahaha......:rotfl:

We better see more posts from you now that you've crossed over from lurker to poster. Trust me, you're in great company and most of us on the Disneyland boards are like one, big, happy, slightly disfunctional family.:grouphug:

When I figured out that he really knew what the DIS trip was.. it was like I was letting out this dark secret that I had.. like I shouldn't have been sharing my DIS obsession with him.. Then it was OMG, he knows what I am talking about... I think that I sounded pretty intelligent about all the Disney stuff that I know about.. then he asked me about how big the back lot was and I sounded like a complete idiot.. I don't know .. I teach 3rd grade and know a lot about Disneyland. :)

Thanks for the welcomes!!

Hi Tracy & Welcome out of Lurkdom!!!

That is so cool that your husband met DSM -- so he'll understand when you need to "get away" next year at about this time. ;)

Welcome! :flower3:

It's a small world after all.

Looks like you're going to have to sign up for next year's DL Ladies trip now!

How exciting!!! Welcome to the board!! We love new members!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yay you have crawled out of lurkdom!! I hope you inspire others to as well. That i also too funny about the DIS-connection. Perhaps you yourself will be going on the next Dis girl's trip!

then he asked me about how big the back lot was and I sounded like a complete idiot.. I don't know .. I teach 3rd grade and know a lot about Disneyland. :)

Back lot.......Shmack lot! You let my hubby worry about that. He'll figure it out.:goodvibes

Just stick with your 3rd graders and your love of Disney!:thumbsup2

Also, don't worry about your hubby. I bet he loves Disney parks too, but doesn't want to admit it. Of course my hubby freely admits he loves our Disney trips. He doesn't go ga-ga over the characters or the parades and what not, but he really does enjoy vacationing at Disneyland or WDW because they have attractions and experiences that even appeal to guys like him. Give him some great rides, a nice pool, a few beers, good food, and quality time with his family, and he's a happy guy. :woohoo: (Of course at WDW he'd love to take in a few rounds of golf and the Richard Petty Driving Experience too. Then he'd be an EXTREMELY happy guy. )

Anyway, I bet your 3rd graders love having a teacher who loves Disney! How fun is that?!!!:yay:

Welcome! :yay: But be careful...it is addicting! I was a lurker for years and then as soon as I started posting, it became a daily habit!

Have fun and see you on the boards!

Welcome! I am also a new member, but long-time lurker.

And this is very true:

Welcome! :yay: But be careful...it is addicting! I was a lurker for years and then as soon as I started posting, it became a daily habit!

:)

Glad you decided to come out of lurkdom!

I know what it's like for people not to "get" your Disney, um obsession LOL (OK, yours might not be an obsessions, but I'm sur emine is LOL Just ask DH). I've now become the resident Disneyland planner- I've had 5 people ask me for help planning their trips in the last month- one returned and said they should have listened to my advice because they didn't get there until 2 hrs after opening and there were long lines (at least she recognized I knew what I was talking about!)
