The concert was so much fun---The guys are awesome! :woohoo: I will try to post a few photos and give an update later tonight, or tomorrow.

Hey Michelle, I love your pictures. I agree that we only hear about the bad and regretfully it overshadows the wonderful kids.

Thanks, Dana! I used the new camera :thumbsup2.

Been thinking about you this week---hope you're doing ok. :flower3:

Thanks, Courtney! We had a good time. You do need to head back to Gatlinburg. Have you ever eaten at Pancake Pantry while you've been there?

No, I've never been there but I think its about time to check it out! It looks soooo yummy! :thumbsup2

And how exciting that you got to see Rascal Flatts! :woohoo: I love their music!

Thanks to the thoughts and prayers of such wonderful people, like you, I'm doing OK. God needed another Mama and Granny in heaven and I know she is busy taking care of everybody there and watching over us down here.

I'm not a major country-music fan, but I do love some Rascal Flatts! They put on a great show. :thumbsup2

I hope you're doing ok---sounds like you have some great memories of your mom to cherish and hold close to your heart.

I wanted to give you all a little update about my birthday concert I went to the other night. :)

After getting Reid to my mom’s and dad’s, the rest of us headed toward Huntsville. We planned to eat at P.F. Changs before the concert, but we didn’t leave as early as we’d hoped for, so there wasn’t going to be enough time for that. Instead, we decided to grab burgers at Five Guys. They have really quick service, so we were in and out a lot faster than we would have been at Changs.

After finishing our dinner, we headed to the civic center for the concert. I had forgotten to charge the battery for our new camera, :guilty: so all we had was our point-and –shoot.

Here’s a picture of Elizabeth and Rachel, before going to our seats.

Finally, it was 8 p.m., and time for the show to start. Darius Rucker was opening the show. Now, I am not a major country-music fan, so I had no clue who Darius Rucker is, until……………..Kevin informed me that he used to be the lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish. OK, why didn’t someone just tell me that Hootie was opening for Rascal Flatts!

He sang several country songs, that I must admit, I’d never heard, because, again, I don’t really listen to those stations. I did sing along when he sang some Hootie songs! ;) He sang until almost 9, and then there was a break, while they set up for the stars of the show.

Finally around 9:30, it was time. Rascal Flatts came out to sing.

They opened with “Summer Nights” and then sang “Fast Cars and Freedom”. Rachel and I had stood up when they came out (like the people in front of us, and others). We were dancing and singing along, and having fun. When the band started a slower song, I sat down. As I did, the older man behind me, said, “THANK YOU” kind of huffy sounding. I looked at him for a moment, and then said, “Well, you’re welcome to stand up as well.” That just kind-of-made me mad at the moment. You know, if you go to a concert, you should expect people to stand up…....Oh, and by the way, mister, it’s going to be loud too! I hate to admit it, that instance kind-of ruined some of the fun I was having. I didn’t stand back up the entire concert, just seethed inwardly!

When it was almost 11 o’clock, and I could tell that they were almost finished, I just thought, “Forget it,” and stood back up. Rachel and I had some fun singing and dancing to the last two songs. Then, it was over.

We knew there would be an encore, so I asked Kevin, what song he thought they’d play. He said, “I don’t know…What big hit have they not played?” I couldn’t think of one. :confused3

So……what big hit was it? I’ll give you a start-----

Well, life's like a road that you travel on
There's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind

YES---I’d forgotten about a Disney movie theme song!

Life is a highway, I wanna ride it
All night long
If you're going my way, I wanna drive it
All night long

What kind of self-respecting DISer am I to forget a Disney movie song? I’m soooo disappointed in myself! :sad2:

Well, the encore was over, and the house lights came up, so we knew it was really over---The time was around 11:15.

By the time we made it out to the car, and travelled the hour west to our home, it was around 12:40 a.m. It sure makes for a short night when you have to be up by 6 the next morning for school. YAWN!

We had a lot of fun---loved seeing one of my favorite groups.

I'm glad yall had such a great night. It sounded like so much fun.

As for Mr. Huffy...WHO GOES TO A CONCERT AND SITS THE WHOLE TIME? I believe that was just poor planning on his part.

I'm sure it was rough getting up the next morning.

Glad you got to have some fun! Wonder what your students would have thought if they had seen the teacher rockin' out?!?!?

How cool that you got to see Hootie and Rascal Flatts! From your pictures, it looks like you had good seats. So glad that you had a good time even if there was a booty sitting behind you. I haven't been to a concert is such a long time. Now, you've got me wanting to go to one!

Okay, I thought it was pretty cool that you were headed to see Rascal Flatts, but I must admit I absolutely squealed in delight when you said you got to see Darius Rucker!!! He is one of my favorites!!! :lovestruc Many, many, many years ago when Hootie and the Blowfish were just a little South Carolina band that no one else in the country knew, my friends and I used to go see them play all the time in little tiny venues in Charleston, and then, later when they became bigger, Charles and I went to a bunch of their concerts in Atlanta. They are my favorite band of all-time! How neat that you got to see Darius play! He is an awesome performer! Glad you had a great time!

It sounds like a great concert - minus the party-pooper behind you  And even without your nice, new camera you still got some great pictures! :thumbsup2 I would love to see Rascal Flatts perform sometime. I'm like you - I'm not a huge country music fan but that is one country group that I love! In fact, all growing up I couldn't stand country music (even though Reba McEntire was my first concert) but when I heard "What hurts the most" for the first time on the radio, I was a fan again!

Hi Sis!!! (This is Kelly, Michelle's sister)

I thought I'd spend a little time on the DIS boards today to get ready for our trip and look what I stumbled upon! How fun!

I can't wait to leave for our trip in 11 days! Meg and Reese are super excited. I am looking forward to a trip without the hubbies.

Funny tidbit that I don't think you've shared...I was going to wait and not tell Meg (3 yrs. old) that we were going to DW until it was time to leave. We were just there in Dec. and she had recently stopped asking to go to Cinderella's Castle everyday. I was in no hurry to start that again since it usually ended with her crying. However, my dear sister told her about a month ago and now she wakes up every morning and says she is ready to go to Disney World! Thanks Sis! Thursday I picked her up from MMO and she asked if Aunt Chelle was coming to pick her up because she was ready to go DW now. I think she shares some of her aunt's OCD tendencies!

Oh well, it's all part of the excitement! And we are just thankful to have been asked to go and are looking forward to all the fun that I know we will have!
