Well, it's a little after 6:30am on a beautiful Friday morning in the Bahamas. I've had my coffee, a stroll around the decks and witnessed an incredible sunrise. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the Disney cruise. Everything has been magical.

I'll post a trip report when I get back, but I'll give you a brief breakdown of our time so far and some observations.

We arrived into Orlando on Wednesday night at 11pm. It had been rainy and cold for the past 5 days in Massachusetts and we were actually wearing jeans and sweaters on the plane. You gotta love Orlando airport, our luggage was already going around the loop when we arrived at baggage claim. I used a courtesy phone to call for the Hawthorn Suites shuttle and he arrived within 10 minutes. We got a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite at the hotel and I thought, how nice, a little pixie dust before our vacation even got started. The hotel was very nice and very convenient to the airport. We paid $86.43 for the night. In the morning, they offered a complimentary hot buffet breakfast. DH and DD took the shuttle back to the airport and picked up a nice Aztec from the National Emerald Aisle. DH reported that there was also a few Jeeps available, Aleros and PT Cruisers. We were on the road at about 9:30 heading for Port Canaveral. The ride only took about 35-40 minutes. Speed limit on the Beeline is 70mph and we hit no traffic at all. We decided to stop at the Walmart (thanks to the boards) and picked up some sand toys and a few other things that we didn't want to lug all the way from Massachusetts. Got to the DCL terminal at about 11am and there were no lines at curbside check-in. Dropped off our luggage and headed through security while DH parked the car. Before going to our check in area, I stopped to see the friendly folks at the kiosk and they helped with filling out and arranging all our documents. Again, there were no lines at the concierge check-in and I don't know if our timing was just perfect or what, but we were the very first family on the ship. What an amazing feeling it is walking into that atrium. We had a delicious lunch in Parrot Cay, went to meet the concierge staff who assisted us with reservations, excursions and registered our youngest DD with the kids club. She recommended the lab for her because she is tall and I knew that she would probably be happier there anyway. From there, we found a restroom, changed into our bathing suits and hit the pools. DD had the Mickey slide all to herself for close to an hour. Did the lifeboat drill, had fun at the sail-away party, unpacked. (We're in 8022, room was ready at 1:30 and our luggage was sitting in front of our door at that time) We saw Hercules and laughed our butts off. DD went to the kids club, DS took off with his cousin to eat and check out the teen room. DH, myself, oldest DD and my cousin had dinner in Palo's. The restaurant was maybe half full. We got a lot of personal attention from our server Balasz. The meal was incredible. After dinner, we picked up DD from the kids club. She was playing a game with about 7 other girls and a counselor. She said she had a great time and they had a pizza party. We took a walk around deck 9, she was hungry again and got another slice of pizza. It was about 10:30 when we made it back to our room. DS and his cousin went to the 11:00pm showing of Hidalgo and they were premiering Raising Helen at midnight. We were rocked ever so gently to sleep.

A few observations: weather has been great and the seas have been calm so far. I packed the Bonine, but we haven't had a need to take it yet. The ship is full, but honestly, it doesn't feel crowded at all. It's taken us a while, but we're figuring out the layout of the ship and moving around it pretty well. After the first hour on board, we decided that the elevators are not really necessary. They are very, very small and take forever. I'm using the excuse that if I take the stairs, I'm working off all those extra calories. Sounds good anyway.

Plans for today: DH and oldest DD are going to take the Catamaran sail and snorkel excursion at 9am. When they've finished up with that, they want to take a taxi over to the Atlantis. DD is 18 and wants to spend $20 in the casino and buy a drink. Youngest DD wants to see Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen at 10:30am in the theatre. We're going to swim for a while, take a quick tour of the straw market and she's going to the kids club while my cousin and I do the wine tasting at Palo's this afternoon. Not sure what DS has planned with his cousin. He's 14 and enjoying the limited freedom he has on the ship.

Well, I'm headed back to my stateroom now. Room service should be delivering breakfast soon and I need to make sure my family is up and moving.

Ciao,
Tammi

Thanks so much for the report!! Glad to hear everything is going so "wonder"fully!! Let us know what you think of the Straw Market in Nassau. Sounds like everyone in your group has found something of interest. Have a ball and make some special memories!!!:wave2:

GREAT REPORT!!!!!!!

THANKS FOR SHARING.

YOUR MISSING ANOTHER "RAINY DAY" HERE IN THE EAST.

CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR MORE.

ENJOY

Thanks for the report! I really enjoyed reading it since we will be 2 weeks behind you on the same cruise. I'm curious, how old your younger daughter is? I have one that is 16 and one that is 19. I know the 19 will be with us a lot since there isn't really any place for her to hang out, but I'm wondering if the 16 year old will want to go to the teen areas or if she will feel like she is too old for it.

:flower1: Thanks for the report. Sounds like you are having a wounderful relaxing time. I can't waite.:boat:

Wondering who your head server is. We had Gabby on the Magic previously and hoped to get him again, but heard he might be on the Wonder now. Thanks for the great report.

Thanks for the mini on site report!!! Is Ian from the UK from the Cruise Staff still onboard??? He is part of the team that hosts all the theme nights, games shows, pool games, deck parties, etc.....he is a riot!!!

MJ

Thanks for the report! I am sailing in September on a 3 night. We also booked a suite and I would love to know if you think it is worth it? Many people have told me not to do it for the shorter cruises. Can you really enjoy it enough to justify the price? Have a fantastic time and keep us posted.

Did you book the land and sea or just the cruise? Wondering how much the suite is just for cruise.

Is Balasz from Hungary? On our first Wonder cruise in November 2000 we had Balasz and he was the BEST!!! My daughter Jennifer had a huge crush on him and he even gave her a "Statue of Liberty" Minnie plush toy as a gift when we left. She still talks about him now, 3 1/2 years later.

BethA, we booked cruise only in September, three nights, cat. 3 suite (with 5 people, 2 adults, 3 kids) and it is costing us $3800.00. The other choice was booking a 4 (which I did not price) or two outside adjoining rooms which would total about $2800.00.

I am sure the prices for this month are MUCH higher than the Sept. rates though.

 I wanna be on the Wonder NOW (not 6 months from now)

I hope you are having the CRUISE OF YOUR LIFE!! :hyper:

Well, it looks like it's shaping up to be another wonderful day. We are slowly making our way to Castaway Cay and the sea's are very calm again. DH and DD(18) have booked the jet ski eco tour and we have some floats and snorkels reserved.

EmmasGrammy: DS(14) went into the straw market with his cousins and their mom. They took a horse carriage ride and had a great time. I went in with DD(8) and she was not impressed. We were asked about hair braiding, but never harrassed or touched. We took a short walk to the Del Sol store and she bought a shirt that changes color in the sun. As soon as we were finished, she wanted to head right back to the boat. I think we were there from maybe 12:00 to 12:45. She had a better time on the ship enjoying the nearly empty pool.

Minnie&Mickey: Oldest DD is 18 and my son is 14. He is definitely loving the freedom he has had to come and go from the teen area. I give him the run down of where we'll be and just ask him to check in or leave me a note in our stateroom letting me know where he is. They have some pretty cool activities planned in the late night at the teen club. She might really enjoy that as "her time", while you enjoy the clubs.

BethA: Our serving team is Anita & Jason. We met them last night at Tritons. They were terrific.

MJ: Yes, I believe it is Ian who we saw at the going away party. All of these kids have tremendous energy and really keep things fun.

Lookingforward: I also had my doubts about the need for a suite on this short cruise. I will tell you that I have not thought twice about it since we got on board. There are 5 of us and having the extra space is great. I know that we could have gotten connecting rooms, but the layout is so nice in a suite. We ordered room service breakfast yesterday morning and we were all able to sit around the dining room table and eat and plan our day. Definitely worth it for us.

BethA: I added the 2 days at WDW on my own. I'm looking forward to the fact that when we do disembark tomorrow morning, our vacation won't be over yet. I am anxious to see how this does work out though. I debated about whether to do Disney first. I'll let you know my thoughts when we get back.

CSX2: Yes, Balasz is from Hungary. He told us that he only has about 3 weeks left on the Wonder. We're going to stop by and see him on Castaway Cay. I don't blame your daughter, he is terrific and very cute.

Ivanova: It has definitely been worth the wait.

Thanks everyone for all your well wishes.

Tammi
