Hello from OK!

I am also from OKLAHOMA! I love this Texas shirt. I will be looking for one for my youngest son. My oldest son is obsessed with going to OU football games. However, he wanted to turn the TV off during the bowl game.

Next weekend is my 100 days until our trip!

DH went ahead & got his passport. I have everything I need, but I can't figure out how to get to the county clerks office before 3 b/c I teach. I guess I'll just go during Spring Break & hope that it's enough time to get my passport back before June. This is so stupid that we have to do this.

Are you sure this is something that s going to have to be done? DH is a government employee and he had no idea what it was either. Surely we would be getting some sort of notification through our media or something if we were going to have to do this.

Welcome! Are you going to Disney soon?

Are you talking about my little Sooner's "Beat Texas" shirt? I actually made it! The back has an upside down longhorn. I never could find little Red River Rivalry shirts, so I just made one.

Oh!! And we're 94 days away!!!! :dance3:

I think I will need to get my creativity gene out and make one. I am watching the OU/OSU girls' game right now. GO SOONERS!!!! Have you looked at Academy for shirts? They usually have a great selection of little kid shirts.

Welcome! Are you going to Disney soon?

We are going June 9-16.

 Hey everyone! Let's see, in the month since anyone last posted, we went on our trip, came home, and promptly booked another one. I think we are certifiably nuts!!!!! Actually, our 15th anniversary is in May, and we were planning on a long weekend in Vegas over Memorial Day. Well, we got to talking and after you figure in airfare, hotel, food, shows, gambling, and of course, shopping, it would cost just as much as a week at Disney. So, guess where we decided to go? We'll be there June 7-14.

I have a great Okie story from our last trip! We won Dream Fastpasses coming out of the tank after watching the dolphin training in The Seas on the last day of our trip. I had printed up CM thank you cards with our family name and hometown to give to great CM's and had forgotten to give them out all week. So, after we got downstairs to the first level, I decided that if anyone deserved them, it was the Dream Team. So, when they came downstairs on their way out, we stopped them and passed out the cards (There were about 8 of them on the team.). All of a sudden, one of the women rushes up and says, "You're from Tulsa? Me too!", and shows me her name badge. Turns out she grew up here, ran the Disney Store at Woodland Hills for a few years, and then decided to live her dream and moved to Florida to work at Disney. She is now in charge of the Epcot Dream Team. She talked about being a Sooner fan, how much she missed Tulsa, and how she would give anything to eat at Taco Bueno! She also gave us her work e-mail so we could keep in touch, and gave us all big hugs before we left. It was so great! I think when we go back in June, I'm going to see if we can meet up with her one day, and I think I'll buy her one of those "I (heart) Tulsa" or "Don't Hate the 918" t-shirts they sell at those boutiqes in Brookside. It might be a good thing to know someone on "the inside"!;)

What a fun story!! We'll be on the lookout for the Epcot Dream Team!! We also made thank you cards to hand out. It includes the last picture on the right in my signature and says "Thanks for making our first trip extra special!!" and our family name and hometown. I also wanted to take some little "Oklahoma" gifts, but I'm not sure what to pick up. Any ideas???

I'll have to look. When we go to the city, we're usually missions specific (Penn Square, Disney Store :wizard: (haha!!), etc.). I'll have to stop at Academy next time we're up North.

I grew up in Clinton, Oklahoma, for the last 7 yrs we have lived in Corpus Christi but we are still OU fans.

Congrats on the next trip! Glad the first one was so good. Ummm, did you write a trip report??????

Great story!

Have a great trip. Looks like you and Karibeth will be there at the same time.

You do remember that the Disney Store is now at Quail Springs, don't you? I still remember coming home from Disney one year and walking around the corner at Penn Square only to find my beloved Disney Store gone!

Of course! I was just saying that when we go to the city, we tend to hit Penn, every now and then Quail, etc. We make our plan and only hit those spots, so I hadn't stopped at Academy (for kids' OU shirts).
I remember when it turned into VS, then some weird Christmas Tree store, now it's empty. What a waste!! Bring the Disney Store back!! That's really the only reason we go to Quail. Everything else we can see at Penn or even at Sooner.

OK, I did a little research about passports and Real ID. Although OK is against the Real ID program, it looks like they've requested an extension. The extension is until December 2009. So, I think the May 11, 2008 deadline will not affect us. I guess I'll try to call the powers that be on Monday.

I'm hoping that's the case. I have a passport, but I'm the only one in my travel party (that will be flying...some of our party is driving). While children need passports to enter or reenter the country, I don't think they need a passport for domestic travel if OK doesn't become a compliant state.

Hey everyone, i've been meaning to post over here and let ya'll know we finally decided on the parks (vs. cruise) and we are going May 6th :thumbsup2

PS not thrilled about the OU/tex bb game tonight! :sad2:

Well I figured you did, just wanted to be sure. Can you imagine my surprise when I had been in the store just before leaving on vacation and coming back a couple of weeks later to find it gone. I walked around the corner and was very confused. :confused3

Well that is at least a little good news. Good luck with what you find out tomorrow.

I grew up in Clinton, Oklahoma, for the last 7 yrs we have lived in Corpus Christi but we are still OU fans.

My aunt used to live in Clinton but she is now in Weatherford, Ok. My parents are from two small towns not too far from Clinton. I remember going to the K-Mart as a little girl to go shopping with my grandmother.:moped:

I can't believe I have missed this thread all this time. :) I have been an Okie all my life . . . (Next time someone asks you if you have lived here all your life . . . say Not Yet:p ) We live in a suburb of Tulsa and my DS8 and I will be staying at BWV in June.

Go Sooners!!!! :joker:

I caught this thread totally by accident. :wave2: I'm orignally from rural Caddo county now located in Mississippi by way of Charlotte North Carolina (I have a job where I'm required to travel). I lived in Norman from 2000-2005 and loved every minute of it, especially football saturdays! Our house was close enough to hear the crowd and fireworks! My secret to getting season football tickets was to actually ENROLL in classes! I killed 2 birds with one stone!:cool1:

We're headed to our happy place :cool1: , AKA WDW in 20 days....I ..I mean, WE can't wait. Maybe one of those days we'll all wear our Sooner Shirts...(my husband-being a LA native refuses to wear anything but LSU in public)--talk about a house divided during football season :sad2: This year was especially tough... That's just another excuse, I mean reason I MUST visit Florida this Spring Break.....I must lift my spirits before the red and white game....:cheer2:

Boomer!

Got another Okie! We will be going to the World Spring Break (March 15th-20th) Will be my DD's 1st time and me and DH have not been in 15 years. Can't wait...any words of advise???
