Hi everyone, just booked the Holiday Inn for 5 nights in May:yay: . I've had a root round some threads on this excellent site regarding transport to and from CDG airport, must admit i find it a bit confusing (and expensive!) but going off what i've read so far here's my take on my options (and problems)

Taxi - 70 euros one way, but could be even more depending on traffic.

VEA Shuttle bus - Will cost 94 Euros return for myself, partner and 4 yr old daughter, this would have been my best option - Until i realised that the shuttle only stops/picks up at the Holiday Inn at certain times - and they are not suited to my travel times.

TGV -Around £70 return for the 3 of us (for a 10 minute return journey?!!:confused3 )I Have to find the station (with luggage and a 4 year old), which is in diferent terminal to the one i'll be using - then negotiate buying tickets (with limited Francais), and as the trains to Dis seem about 40 mins apart - if you've just missed one, it's a bit of a pain.

Normal train - looks to be the cheapest (but slowest) option, apparently we have to change trains in Paris, and the journey can take up to an hour and half.

It all seems such a headache for what is only a 25 mile journey, any advice on peoples opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Having done it a couple of times now, I would advise you to take the VEA from the airport to your hotel (the VEA stops at every terminal at CDG, and is very frequent most of the day and evening). Even if the next VEA when you arrive is not the Holiday Inn one, you can just get off at the bus station at DLRP and take the free shuttle bus for the Holiday Inn from there. It will be no more than 30 minutes extra travelling, and could be as little as 10 minutes.

Then, take the TGV back from your hotel to CDG at the end of your stay.

You can take your luggage from the Holiday Inn on the shuttle bus to the train station at DLRP on your last morning, then get the TGV (located right next to Disneyland Park) in time for your flight check-in. It really is only 10 minutes journey, and finding your way round the terminals on your way back is not too difficult, now there is the free inter-terminal train service at the airport.

There is also another option - a private shuttle with rs/bs transports - for 3, this is 55 euro each way. I've also used this, and would recommend it if you would prefer not to use public transport.

Hope this helps,

Elaine

Absolutely, many thanks for the advice. One thing i did wonder was - rather than change shuttles at the Dis bus station.......would it be easier to just get off the VEA at a hotel very close to the Holiday Inn? Are there any hotels very close does anyone know?

Well, the Santa Fe is the closest. But you get dropped off at the Santa Fe from the VEA at their reception building. So you'd then have to walk back up to the main road, then over the road and on for about another 10 minutes. Maybe not the best journey if you've got luggage and a 4-year old.

I'm staying at the Explorers, next to the Holiday Inn, this June, and I'm getting the VEA, then if its not the one that goes to my hotel, I'll get off at the bus station and wait for the next Explorers shuttle.

Great help so far - cheers. One more question, would i have to pay for my 4 year old on the TGV from Dis to CDG? or would it be OK to just sit her on my lap for 10 mins?

I just had a look on the Rail Europe site, it looks like, as your daughter is already 4, you will need to buy a ticket for the TGV for her.

Thanks for the advice, i've just booked the VEA shuttle bus from CDG airport to Dis - then the TGV from Dis to CDG airport for when i'm going home, works out at £67 for the return trip for 2 adults and a 4 year old.
