I have just started planning our 3rd trip to Disney. I have 4 children and we want to stay on site but dont want to spend a fortune. My youngest son will turn 3 the end of October and we are planning to go in Nov/Dec to experience Christmas Disney style- one of my life long dreams!! Now where to stay????

We love, love, love POR but I cant afford 2 rooms. My youngest DS will still sleep in a pack n play but still- thats tight.

or

book 2 rooms at Pop Century

or

All Star Music Family Suite

or

give up and stay offsite

or

another great idea that someone is going to suggest!!

My only complaint with Disney is that they are not large family friendly when it comes to affordable accomodations. If anyone could offer any insight I would really appreciate it. Thank-you!

do the two rooms at a value resort. The Family suite is more expensive than two rooms. We were going to do that too, but realized it would be cheaper to get the two rooms. I would definately stay on property. I know its a big expense but just imagine the resort you pick at Christmas time. We are only a family of 4 and we are going Thanksgiving week of next year because I want to see Disney at Christmas. The magic will be better for you guys if you stay on property. HAVE FUN!!!

just checked the numbers on the disney site, and for a family suite for the week of Thanksgiving it would be $1994 and two rooms at POP for the same week is $1788. Its a $208 savings.....

Thank you for your help- I think that is the way we are going to go. I think we are really going to need the extra room this year and I just cant imagine staying offsite. Thanks again!!

I agree there are so many benefits to staying onsite. Do the 2 rooms at the Pop or value resort.

We stayed at ASMu in a family suite last Dec- it was great for us- we loved having 2 bathrooms, and a sort of kitchen area -fridge, microwave, sink, and lots of storage shelves- I know it is more than 2 regular rooms- but 2 adjoining rooms are not a guarantee which worried me- it was also nice to be able to put the kids to bed in their living area but I could still stay up to organize for the next day , DH could watch Tv in our room- for us they were perfect!

One thought is that with the Family Suite, you might be able to save some money on food costs. You could plan to have most/all breakfasts in the room, keep snacks easier in the room, and maybe even have some simple lunch or dinner once in a while in the room - you can do alot with a fridge and microwave. This could cover the $200 extra cost to get you back to break even between the two option.

We did this just with a fridge a few years back staying at the Dolphin - breakfasts were cereal, fruit, yogurt. "Other" meals were snadwiches - lunch meat, cheese, PB&J. With a microwave, you have even more options.

We did the suites and loved it. It was myself, husband, daughter, son-in-law and two kids, 2 1/2 and 3 mo. Loved the kitchen area. Loved the 2 bathrooms, and we had the private bedroom. when the others got up in the morning and folded in the beds, we had nice chairs and a couch to sit on. Was well worth the extra money.

we stay at the Swan (with only a fridge), and we try to do 2 of the meals in the room- breakfast and lunch. we usually get a snack in the park during the day, and then do an ADR in the evening. we even take our own toaster (we drive to WDW) so we can have toast in the morning! i'm sure if we can do this in the Swan, you can definitely do it in a suite. hopefully it'll save you lots of money, and you can still have plenty of space and have the room you want!
