By the way, another poster did post that the post hurt her feelings. Several of us had a discussion about it.

I found the OP that posted this thread in the first place rude for doing such....it was clearly meant to stir the post and I reported such.....

I have seen a lot of nasty posts in here and cant believe that the MODS have not closed it down......

The MODS should be ashamed of themselves for letting this thread continue. And so should the poster that started it.

Robin -if you reported it - why did you find it necessary to stir the pot by posting it on another thread? Or - if you found it offensive - why did you not post a response on the conservative thread yesterday and express your feelings then?

Maybe we should all start policing other threads for things we find offensive -- wait I don't have that much free time

Things have happened when these lines of thought have been pursued in here......bad things.......

Yes it was deleted as it should have been, but the problem was that it mentioned specific conservative posters by name and called them names that are too vulgar to be posted.

I did not read the post in question, but I believe you. I am sorry that someone would be so low as to come into your thread and say such things to you.

So, you don't believe that loco's post should have been deleted? Wasn't it also "bad form"?

I don't. Her post was a rant. Sure it was over the top but I took it as her needing to blow off steam. It didn't namecall or personally attack a specific poster. I think being called a racist and that my beliefs are sickening is just as bad as what loco called OS. It's called perspective.

Personally, this thread is offensive to me. It calls out one poster and with the help of many like-minded friends attempts to bully/silence other-minded individuals to post carefully or not at all. That is an attack.

i think all these poltical thread should be moved to there own area.
I think its sad that so many of us being mean to each other, we dont have to agree but cant we be respectful?

Should it have been deleted? Yes because there are guidelines to follow and if people and the Mods thought it crossed that line then delete it. The problem comes from taking that post that offended someone and starting a new thread calling That poster out and pointing it out to everyone. That is the bad form part. If it offends you(you meaning anyone) then either report it, or ignore it. You just don't start a new thread to stir the pot and make everyone go 'hey look at the hate monger over here' and point out the post.

I would never go into the OS thread and expect everything to be sunshine and lollipops when referring to the conservatives. If something offended me, so be it. It is their house, not mine. I am a guest there and will hold my tongue and let them speak freely and not stir the pot, but I might go the the conservative thread and complain to my friends.

I didn't realize that I had to PROVE that my grandparents are not racist. Why anyone would assume they are is beyond me.

And yes, I agree that the nastiness from both sides has gotten ridiculous. Suggesting that elderly people who disagree with Obama's ideas must be racist is, indeed, nasty.

Well JS did come back and clarify that if your grandparents weren't racist for not voting Obama, then they were part of the green section of the pie he provided, which was labeled STUPID.

And the post in question was extremely offensive to a great many people, including me. Because it was posted on a conservative thread and "blowing off steam" doesn't give free rein to insult people on these boards. The guidelines for political posts clearly says that insults against a candidate are not an attack but insulting people on the boards is. Who blows off steam by referring to a group of people as Nazi and Fascist sympathisers who pimp out their children? It was a flat out bullying post and absolutely deserved to be called out. It was a horrible thing to say.

I'm guessing that the OP did not post on the conservative thread for just the reasons you mentioned above--attempts to bully or silence her. Heck, I've seen posts on this thread being mocking and downright insulting to the OP and I can only imagine what would have happened if it had been posted on the conservative thread but I'm sure all the usual suspects would have piled on.

Would be great if the MODs started an area for such....we have asked they have declined. It would be great because at times I want to get away from the Political threads and all the arguing...yet when I go to the the CB for something else to go into ...I see another political thread and get sucked in......

The CB is not what it use to be.....it has changed. And I suspect it will not go back after the election either the way it was. This election has brought the worst out in all of us....good people turning ugly.

If the MODS were smart they would make an area so others that are not in to the political boards threads dont get lost....page one is mostly political mumbo jumbo......

Maybe you can explain exactly what the OP stated in her post that was "rude" or offensive or something that she needs to be "ashamed" of. She simply called attention to another poster on what that poster chose to post on a public forum and the OP gave a very thoughtful and appropriate response. Unlike loco's post, there is absolutely nothing derogatory in the OP post. I think the MODS did loco and several others that agreed with loco's post a big favor by deleting their posts. I don't think they owe them or you any more favors by deleting or locking this thread.

And I was not aware that "stirring the pot" was not allowed oh look right there is a "stirring the pot" smiley.

The bottom line is that regardless of what many of the posters on the Conservative thread want to believe, that thread just like the Obama Supporter's thread is a public thread on a public website and posting on it or anywhere else on a public website leaves the poster open to other people responding to it.
