I have not been on in a while to catch up with everyone and I just want to apologise to all of you, I'm so sorry.


DH has been keen enough to spot the new food photos thread and it took be back to out last vacation OMG I can smell and taste some of those dishes just by looking at the photos i swear. The only down side of this is it makes me yearn to go back again, however this year it's just not possible.

Ds is leaving primary school in the next few weeks and we have to arrange things for year 6 prom and school show for the leavers plus he has to go up to the new comprehensive school and we need to get his uniform etc. sorted out too. Big changes for our boy .

Big changes for DH too he recently started a new job with the same firm running a machine on night shift on a 4 night rotating shift pattern which runs for 3 weeks and we are all still getting used to it all. He starts at midnight until ten a.m. and his working week now begins on a Sunday the only saving grace is every third week he gets a long weekend. The pay isn't bad but it is hard work, DH's boss wants him to train to be a supervisor/ manager for the small unit of staff on the machine (all 4 of them), that looks likely to take place in September.

In the meantime I'm still waiting to find out what is going on with my job since the company are insisting they will shut down our office and transfer the work we do on my shift up to Tyneside by 2013 or maybe sooner since another office is closing by the summer of next year . So we wait and listen to the "powers that be" who are supposed to be consulting with the staff about what they want to do either work in another town for another function of the business or be made redundant. We have no guarantees at the moment there will be any money paid out for redundancy packages so we wait. I will look for a job with family friendly hours somewhere when the time comes. Oh I forgot to say we got fleeced out of our bonuses and shares too but I did just receive my 20 year service award a paperweight and a lapel pin and a high street shopping card worth £40 which is somewhere on it's way to me. It's not much for all those years but it's something ...the pin is not as good as a WDW pin just plain and thin with the company logo

In the meantime we pop into the food thread and the one about the hotels and try to keep abreast of the park changes. DH made me laugh last week he had been looking at package prices and for the random weeks for next year he selected COSMOS came up the cheapest which I was amazed at.

try looking at travel city direct we always use them as they are the cheapest and you still get the comfort of flying on a virgin plane we are going wdw next september for honeymoon and taking a few friends with us.we will be a party of 5 with dining plan and 14 day tickets for disney for £7569

Thanks for the welcome mandymouse I hope you are well, it's been a rough year for everyone I know .
We were trying to work out if we could go back either 2012 or 2013 it's tricky since DS can't miss much school time now. Plus he will need to be in school to take tests etc. I can't believe he's about to start year 7 Where does the time go On the plus side we have so many great memories of Disney holidays the last one being one of our best trips yet and we all agreed that the hotel was fantastic and if we could budget for it we would stay there again. I guess it's true what they say once you stop at a moderate or higher you get spoilt there's no going back to a value resort unless the price isn't right for a moderate resort. I'm off to lurk in more threads, take care.

Thank you Dh has just been really thoughtful and looked on the Disney Store site and ordered me a 'Roo' part of the proceeds goes to Great Ormond Street Hospital. That little Roo is helping to make the lives of some children a little better and he will keep me company at night ( I know I'm sad). Roo is supposed to have one of the new fragrances so that will be interesting.

hello, I'm relatively new to the boards. Our DD is going into Y6 in September and we will have to apply for her place at the secondary school within the first few weeks of term. We had a look around the local school last week and could see the costs mounting up before us. I'm not sure we'll have much cash for WDW holidays when she moves up.

Hello loobzuk I understand what you mean it's why we didn't go this year for us too. However we have dabbled on the internet looking at hotels offsite to see if we can reduce flights and room costs and looked into getting park tickets separately. This would mean we could go to other parks for a few days as well as WDW. We have managed this before for a decent price so it just means finding a location which has transport to the main parks and gets decent reviews. We like the Lake Buena Vista area but really the only place we are reluctant to try is Kissimmee purely due to the distances to and from the parks.

I admit we were spoiled with our hotel and if finances allowed we would go back no question about it but now DS is older and braver I think other parks hold more appeal for us as a family now. We keep looking and we will ask the new school about holidays when we get chance (I doubt we will get any school holidays as leave from work) and see what they say My goodness the prices all shoot up don't they once kids get over 10 years old

BTW you do't have long 'til you see WDW I hope you have a fantastic holiday and please post some photos and reviews if you have any meals planned
